I’m enjoying working with the site team and have had made many new friends. Q: Where do you see yourself in the future? A: I still see myself working in the construction industry, hopefully gaining more skills, experience and qualifications to work my way up to achieve all that I can. Q: Would you recommend the programme? A: I would definitely recommend the programme. It has worked for me, as I myself had been recommended and feel I have thrived since arriving.

To kick off National Apprenticeship Week 2025, Akela will be providing a daily insight into our apprenticeship programme and showcasing some of our apprentices. Meet James Quinn – James was enrolled on Akela's apprenticeship programme in January 2025 and is already demonstrating the key attributes required to progress and have a successful career within the Construction sector. Q: How did you hear about the programme? A: I was made redundant and my aunt told me about the youth build programme. I heard about Akela Construction and the opportunities they provide to young people. Q: What interests you about construction? A: I’m very much a hands on individual which is an essential attribute for construction work. I’m interested in the build process and the various stages from groundworks through to handover. Q: How’s the programme going? A: This is one of the best places I have worked. The lads are amazing and have helped me enormously and helped me settle in. Q: Where do you see yourself in the future? A: Working in construction and having a successful career. Q: Would you recommend the programme? A: Yes, to everyone. #NAW2025
