Alma Angels is a diverse and active community committed to backing women (co)founders building tech or IP-rich ventures with global ambitions. It started from the belief that to change the early stage venture landscape, we must change the face of it. We believe that growing the pool of diverse cheque writers will make the biggest impact on funding underrepresented founders. We're on a mission to generate $1 trillion in women-led wealth by 2050.
Hearing myself speak counts as squarely outside of my normal comfort zone but really enjoyed sitting down with Ruth at TomorrowBrands to chat all things brand building, fundraising and what gets the team at Era VC excited at the moment 🔥

Last week at Norrsken Barcelona, I attended a great pitch event where every investor on stage and the moderator was a woman. Not a gender-focused event, not a women in investment event, just a regular panel on impact investing.
All those women are leading and influencing significant capital. That shouldn’t be remarkable, but it still is. Progress takes time, but moments like these remind us that change is happening.
The next step is also giving racial diversity a seat at the table - as single dimention diversity is not good enough - and making panels like this so common they no longer stand out. 🔥

After visiting the AI Summit in Paris, Atlantic Labs is landing in London for a roundtable with Alma Angels on the topic: How is AI transforming the physical world? 🤖
So much conversation on AI has focused on the virtual world, but how are founders applying AI to hard things — from industry to robotics and manufacturing.
Discussion led by Alice Bardon Catineau who will share Atlantic Labs views with our angels actively investing in the space or interested to take part.
Atlantic Labs is in such a privileged position as a first round investor that has led over 150 (!!!) investments into category creators such as SoundCloud, Clue, Vimcar and Wandelbots.
Absolutely thrilled to be hosting!
And sincere thanks to Cooley LLP for their support 🙏

🚀 Introducing Alma Family Circle: A community for Family Offices driving change
At Alma Angels, our mission is simple - to generate one trillion dollars in women-led wealth by 2050. However, simple does not mean easy 😄
Over the past 5 years, we have worked with 550+ Alma Angels to back more than 220 tech & IP startups, each with at least one woman founder.
During this period, we have seen many Almas evolve from angel investors, launching their own funds as solo GPs or as part of women-led multi partner funds.
Yet, as they build new funds, we realized they face the same challenges as diverse founders.
That is why last year, we quietly launched Alma Family Circle: a space where family offices can connect, collaborate, and co-invest in the next generation of diverse VCs.
Not many people are aware, but family offices are the core pillar for emerging VC managers: 67% of backers of first time funds are family offices!
It’s crucial to support that community and help it grow. We believe a diverse LP base helps secure better returns and builds a stronger ecosystem.
Last week, we hosted our first event of 2025 in partnership with Startup Nation Central, bringing together family offices and LPs to deep dive into the biotech and healthtech ecosystem in Israel. At each dinner, we bring experts to share their wisdom and learnings:
Meet Laly (David) Scherf🎗️ managing partner at I-Next Capital, Elena Sterlin GP at LiveLong.Life and Roy Wiesner partner at aMoon Fund
The conversations reinforced exactly why this community is so needed, creating real connections and knowledge sharing with NO PITCHING.
👉 If you are a woman leader in a family office and are looking to be part of this movement, let's connect! Next dinner is on April 3rd and would love to have you join.
The future of wealth is diverse, and we are building it together.

I don’t exactly have the usual prerequisites to be in the Cambridge startup scene.
❌ I’m not affiliated with the university (though hear all about the academia highs and lows from my husband!)
❌ I’m not focused on deep tech or bio tech
Navigating the Cambridge startup scene can sometimes feel like trying to squeeze into a tight-knit and closed club. I’ve often felt a little on the outside looking in.
And then, I was paired up with Xann at an Alma Angels event. Through her, I was introduced to the Cambridge Female Founders Network – an incredible group of supportive, ambitious and talented women.
Last week’s supper club had a palpable energy. It was a group of women who are passionate about what they’re building, while also being open and outward looking.
It felt so good to leave the event buzzing, to walk home (rather than make the return journey from London!), and know that there is a network and community to be had right there in Cambridge.
Thank you Xann Schwinn, Dr Shazia Hyatt and Lluna Gallego Segrelles for a great evening. Excited for all that’s to come!
