Mark Thewlis, operations director offers his thoughts in Premises & Facilities Management following the budget. #waterscarcity #Budget2024 #AlpineFireCampaign
Now the dust has settled on last week’s Budget, Alpine and other operators in the FM sector have had time to scrutinise the detail. We were hoping to see more on the environmental issues that can constrain economic growth – specifically water scarcity. Our own campaign to reduce and repurpose the billions of litres of clean water lost each year through weekly fire suppression system checks could go a long way towards conserving water, and we would welcome Government intervention to support this initative. The announcement of the new Defra commission to re-examine and recommend reforms to the water sector is a welcome step, but we wait to see whether the focus on the financial issues affecting the industry extends to water saving. My thoughts on the Budget have been included in the round-up from @Premises & Facilities Management which you can read here: https://bit.ly/4hvDISF #Budget2024 #WaterScarcity #AlpineFireCampaign

This year’s theme, set by the World Federation of Mental Health, is workplace mental health. It reminds us how crucial it is to create a space where everyone can thrive—benefiting individuals, teams, and communities. At Alpine, we believe in creating a supportive environment where mental health is a priority. We encourage everyone to connect with our Mental Health First Aiders—#itsgoodtotalk Here’s how we prioritise mental health in the Alpine workplace: - A dedicated Wellbeing Team - Monthly OHAS Campaigns with guidance - Encouraging breaks away from the desk and promoting a good work-life balance - Access to a Healthcare cash plan with 24/7 free advice and helpline - Proactively engage and listen via Employee engagement surveys to listen and improve - A company wide communication platform to foster social interactions, ensuring our remote teams are always connected - A vibrant Events Hub to boost engagement and community Let’s come together to talk openly about mental health and show that it matters. When we talk, we cope better. #MentalHealthMatters #WorldMentalHealthDay #WorkplaceWellbeing
