Last month, AFG's Chair of the Board of Trustees, Brian Martin Walsh OBE, invited our Employee Experience team to showcase the amazing progress to date with regards to our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy. 🗣️ Brian said: "This was an excellent opportunity for me to hear and witness such collective positivity to seize the opportunities which are ahead of us." Brian described his personal commitment and that of our Board of Trustees, in creating an inclusive culture at AFG, which has recently enabled us to achieve formal Great Place To Work® certification. Our Trustees are keen to encourage colleagues to be open to learning and understanding more in this space to support the development of our workplace culture. Likewise, our Senior Leadership Team are committed to becoming champions in all areas of EDI, enabling us to drive this agenda forward. We are delighted to announce that Alternative Futures Group has been officially certified as a Great Place To Work®! The Great Place To Work® accreditation is the only certification based entirely on what employees say about their workplace experience, is recognised worldwide and is the global benchmark for identifying and recognising outstanding employee experience. October marks Black History Month... 🌍 This year’s theme is “Reclaiming Narratives”, highlighting a significant shift towards recognising and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture. 💭 Today we held a 'Black History Month Digital Conference' for our colleagues at AFG to celebrate the stories, heritage and contributions of Black people, and ensure the voices of our people continue to be heard. It was fantastic to hear from Bea Udeh, member of our Board of Trustees, and Irene Afful MSc., ED&I Expert, as they shared their personal experiences and highlighted how together we can make a lasting impact on how Black history is recognised and celebrated. 🗣️ Peter Olufemi Adeboye, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Lead at AFG, said: "Black History Month is important as it helps us to celebrate the diversity of our colleagues, listen to their lived experiences, and promote inclusion in the workplace. It is also an opportunity for us all to learn more about Black culture, history and arts." We're proud to have been shortlisted for 'Best Recruitment and Workforce Planning Strategy' in the HR Excellence Awards 2024! This achievement recognises the impact of our multi-channel, targeted recruitment campaign which has enabled us to: ✅ Increase our Support Worker application rate by 65%. ✅ Reduce our agency recruitment spend by 67%. ✅ Reduce our vacancy rate to below the sector average, from 9.8% to 7.8%. This has allowed us to reinvest in our people and continue to be a Real Living Wage employer, whilst also investing in employee experience and equality, diversity and inclusion schemes. 🗣️ Dave Noon, Support Worker at AFG, said: "The investment over the last two years speaks volumes.
