At Kensington Hall in Durham, the people we support have been participating in lots of fun activities and days out! 🙌 Deputy Manager Julie said "Most recently Thomas and Sam have been on a fantastic trip to Blackpool, they travelled by coach with support staff Maureen and Blessing. They enjoyed a wander around all the rides at the fairground, some seaside fish and chips, a ride on the horse and cart and finished the day off at a karaoke bar where Sam and Thomas both enjoyed getting up and singing. 🐟🎡🎤 We have also had a singer join us called Soldier Mac and all the people we support were up dancing and singing together. 🎵 Our Positive Behaviour Support Facilitator Zoe also came along to join in on the fun and said she really enjoyed getting involved in dancing with the people we support. 🕺 Everyone had a fantastic time." 🤩 It looks like everyone has had a fun week over at Kensington Hall with lots of exploring, singing and dancing! At Calder View and Heathfield Gardens, the people we support created signs and artwork for Suicide Prevention Day! 🎗 Manager at Calder View Debbie said, "Support staff member Sammy and Michael who resides at Calder View went out to the local park to display laminated help signs onto trees to help people who are feeling low with advice numbers and people to contact for help and support. 👏 I felt this was a lovely idea and want to say a big well done to both of them for supporting Suicide Prevention Day and Suicide Awareness Month in September! 🌟 They then stopped off for a coffee after all their hard work and Michael enjoyed some time feeding the ducks." ☕🦆 Senior Support Worker at Heathfield Gardens Mary-Jane said "The gentleman at Heathfield Gardens had a great day on Tuesday writing quotes on what they are grateful for. Support Worker Weronika created a gratitude box for the activities in support of Suicide Prevention Day. 🎗 Everyone enjoyed some painting of supportive quotes and creating their own quotes of what they are grateful for including quotes based on their health, friends, fun and games, the quotes were then placed into the gratitude box and shared with others. After the activity, we had a fantastic conversation where all of the people we support engaged in the discussion around suicide prevention and shared their ideas of healthy coping skills." 💙 Well done everyone for supporting Suicide Prevention Day, it looks like you all had a good day creating some quotes and posters and even sharing them into your local community to support people who could be struggling or feeling low. 👏 A great way to be a valuable member of your community and to support others! 🤩 Starting the Conversation together is a great way to support each other and this year's theme to 'Change the Narrative on Suicide'.🎗💛 Samaritans - 116 123 - Open 24/7 Mind - 0300 102 1234 - Open Monday-Friday 09:00 - 18:00 #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #SuicidePreventionDay #RaisingAwareness #LetsTalk #Talk #ChangingTheNarrativeOnSuicide #SupportWork #SocialCare

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day and this year's theme being ‘Changing the narrative on suicide' to action 'Start the Conversation'. 🎗 This year's theme aims to reduce stigma and encourage people to start open conversations to prevent suicides by discussing suicide and suicide prevention. To break down the barriers, raise awareness and create better cultures of support. 💛 At Cecil Court, their Wellbeing Lead Tracy organised some time for the staff team and people we support to discuss World Suicide Prevention Day. After their discussions, they decided to make some posters to support the day containing suicide prevention methods, and motivational quotes to encourage people to talk, ask for help and share their thoughts - to know they are not alone. 🤗 They were then proudly displayed on their wellbeing wall. 🌟 Manager Joanne said, "This activity and the discussions we all had were so important as we want everyone to know that they are not alone and can speak to us anytime about those thoughts and feelings they have." 💙 A great way to encourage people to talk, well done everyone at Cecil Court! 👏 Let's all come together to break the stigma and Change the Narrative on Suicide. We are here to talk and Start the Conversation together! 🎗💛 #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #SuicidePreventionDay #RaisingAwareness #LetsTalk #Talk #ChangingTheNarrativeOnSuicide #SupportWork #SocialCare
