A whole 2 hours LESS than most other rail firms. 𝗪𝗵𝘆? It's not rocket science 🚀 Driving when tired reduces reaction time, impairs judgement, coordination, and concentration, contributing to... 🔹 Around 5% of fatal road crashes 🔹 Up to 20% of accidents on roads such as motorways 🔹 Roughly 300 deaths on Britain's roads every year And whilst getting home safe is EVERYONE'S top priority, that extra 2 hours also gives people more time to simply live their lives. To rest, exercise, spend time with their families, read a book, walk the dog, watch a film, enjoy their hobbies, go out for a meal, pick their kids up from school... On paper it's just 2 hours. The winners are in! 🥇🥈🥉 Back in June we began our most ambitious challenge yet, with 8 teams of 4 (plus 1 more from our friends at NR Works Delivery) going head-to-head, EACH aiming to cover 1,600 miles and 3.7 million steps in a virtual race from Glasgow to Rome... Despite our MD Michael Ewart's best efforts, however, his team was just pipped to the post by Network Rail, with another Amaro team led by Signalling Team Leader, Alan Matthews, coming home in 3rd. We only hit site in May but, since then, our project to install a state-of-the-art relocatable equipment building at Selhurst Depot has won Network Rail's coveted 'Construction Route to Gold' award... An incredible 7 TIMES! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 After a significant amount of degraded wiring was discovered within the existing REB, NR tasked Amaro with the correlation, design, installation, and commissioning of its replacement - a critical component within the area's signalling infrastructure, handling all of the interlocking controls for both the depot and the mainline. Just over 2 months since we first hit site, Amaro's finest headed back to South West London this weekend for a 52h possession, completing the replacement of signal W210! 🚦 One of two signal signals which posed a safety risk, in April we were tasked with carrying out the design, procurement, installation, and testing of W210 - a left hand mounted, 4 aspect Westinghouse filament signal on the Up Kingston at New Malden. And, since June, our site team have had their noses to the grindstone... 🔹 Digging a trial hole and marking out screw pile locations 🔹 Installing the screw piles needed to anchor the post in place 🔹 Installing the signal base, GRP walkway and handrails 🔹 Removed the old signal, eliminating a pressing safety issue 🔹 Installed, tested, and commissioned the new unit into use Now, thanks to the dedication of our team, the risk has been averted, and a state of the art Dorman LED signal head is now in place, supported by a lightweight, fold-down signal post.
