We are excited to announce that Amspec have successfully added the Cavity Barriers module to our FIRAS certification! Warringtonfire Cavity barriers are a vital component of passive fire protection systems, designed to prevent the spread of fire by sealing voids within ceilings, walls and floors. They work by restricting the pathways of smoke and flames through concealed spaces, ensuring that fire is contained and doesn't move freely around a building. Left unsealed these cavities can allow the spread of fire and essentially providing an easy route for smoke and flames to move around the building. Achieving third-party accreditation for the installation of cavity barriers is a significant milestone for our passive fire protection services. Combined with our existing FIRAS-certified modules, including: • Fire stopping (penetration sealing) • Timber fire door installation • Fire door maintenance This certification allows Amspec to deliver the highest standards of compliant, fully certified, passive fire protection installations across our projects. A huge congratulations to our Managing Director, Mike Wignall MCIOB, who is celebrating 20 years at Amspec! 🎉 Mike joined us in October 2004 as an Apprentice Plasterer and has had an incredible journey. After completing his HNC & HND in Construction & The Built Environment, he undertook an 18-month programme to become a Chartered Construction Manager with the The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). He worked his way up to Construction Director and today he leads the company as Managing Director. On behalf of everyone at Amspec, we’d like to extend a huge thank you and congratulations to Mike for all his hard work and dedication in shaping Amspec into what it is today! Andrew Maxwell

A great opening presentation from the Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS) in our series of free webinars for Fire Door Safety Week. Andrew Sayer , Lead Assessor at FDIS shared valuable insight regarding the most common issues surrounding fire doors as well as some guidance to support the ‘Responsible Person’ of a building. If you are the Responsible Person, here are some basics checks you could be undertaking on a regular basis to help keep building occupants and users safe: ❓ Does the fire door open and close fully? ❓ Is there any damage to the door leaf or frame? ❓ Is any glazing broken or damaged? ❓ Are the intumescent seals missing or damaged? ❓ Is all the installed ironmongery working as intended? ❓ Are escape routes clear and accessible?
