The Safe Leave bill has its Second Reading on 20 June in Parliament, where MPs will have the opportunity to talk about the huge impact that 10 days of paid leave could have for victims and survivors of domestic abuse. Three areas of the country are part of a pilot scheme to use new powers called DAPOs, or domestic abuse protection orders. They allow police to apply through the courts for restrictions on abusers, and can be used to protect victims from all types of domestic abuse, whether that be physical, sexual or coercive and controlling behaviour.
