Together, let’s ask the questions that matter.
About us
At AQA, we’re proud to be the leading provider of accessible qualifications and support services for teachers and students. We set and mark around half of all GCSEs and A-levels taken in the UK every year; we ask the questions that matter, so that every learner can achieve the results they deserve. Teachers and learners are at the heart of everything we do. As an independent education charity, any money we make is reinvested back into research so that every learner receives fair and inclusive assessment. We’re always here for our teachers and support them through free training, expert guidance and unbeatable resources. As the most chosen awarding body, we have the biggest teaching community too – teachers are in good company with AQA. The AQA Group also includes Exampro, TQUK, Project Q, AlphaPlus, Grademaker. Meet Wayne Power, Subject Support Manager for English. He shares why being part of #AQATeamEnglish is rewarding and why he's passionate about supporting teachers like you. "Team English matters to me because collaboration makes us all better. I believe in the strength of a supportive community where teachers can share ideas, tackle challenges together, and develop fresh approaches to inspire the next generation of readers and thinkers. I joined AQA in 2018 because they share my commitment to high-quality, inclusive English education. I believe in the power of English to help students think critically, build empathy, and be creative. Supporting English teachers at AQA has been incredibly rewarding—I love working closely with them to refine their practice and improve assessments. In my role, I work with teachers to provide the resources, guidance, and clarity they need to help students engage confidently with texts. I’m also involved in curriculum development, ensuring diverse voices and perspectives are represented in the classroom." Find out more about #AQATeamEnglish at https://lnkd.in/djsnckCy

We were very excited to be at Reading Town Hall this week for the first of our #AQAUnlockingPotential midpoint events. The young people pitched their social action projects to a ‘Dragons’ Den’ who gave them feedback on their ideas and helped with their presentation skills. We can’t wait to see how the projects turn out at the celebration event in July! It was also a pleasure to meet Yuan Yang, MP for Earley and Woodley, and we look forward to meeting her again.

We’re delighted to have submitted our thoughts to the EdTech Evidence Board, giving views on how we can ensure EdTech improves education for all young people. EdTech products have huge potential, but it’s important that schools and colleges have access to clear and simple frameworks to decide whether they are suitable for them. This is something we discuss in the submission, drawing on a wide range of evidence. Where EdTech products use Artificial Intelligence (AI), it’s particularly important that someone has assessed whether that AI is competent at doing what it says it will – just as we assess the knowledge and skills of human beings. At AQA we're already realising the potential EdTech has to enhance our work through AQA Stride, a diagnostic and adaptive maths test that allows teachers to find and fix students’ maths gaps. This means tailored support for students. Such an approach could revolutionise the way we teach students who are struggling, including: - easing teacher time and workload, - raising standards for all, and - producing data, insights and analysis. To read our thoughts in full, go to: https://lnkd.in/e5yFHDSx Huge thanks to Capital City College Group where we visited to see how AQA Stride is helping their students. Mikhaila Senior, Capital City College Curriculum Manager for Maths, told us: "It's great having a diagnostic tool telling you what areas of maths you're great at, because it means as a resit student with low morale you don't have to study the whole course and we can really sell that to the students using this tool”. We’re very excited to share a sneak peek of the filming we did at the College, with the full film landing very soon.

This #IWD2025, we’re celebrating the incredible contributions of female authors. Literature shapes how we see the world, and it’s vital that women’s voices are given the space they deserve in our classrooms. Our modern texts by women writers each bring something unique yet share common qualities: they are funny, moving and uplifting, exploring family, love, loss, and belonging. With historical and modern relevance, and complex, resilient characters, they tackle important social issues in ways that resonate with your learners. Are you currently teaching or thinking about teaching our new modern texts? Why not commit this International Women’s Day to explore a modern text by a female author? Join our next Curriculum Connect to find out how you can deliver these effectively in your classroom. Book now: https://ow.ly/U0lF50VcGzN
