A big thank you to everyone who supported the Construction & Property Padel Event on Thursday! You all helped raise over £1,000 for Derby County Community Trust from a combination of the entry fee and purchasing the raffle tickets. Our aim was to create an event that was a little different and got people moving about, whilst also being a fun way to bring together industry professionals in a social environment. Another update from our Broomfield Hall site, down at Derby College. The bolt boxes for the steel fixings have now been put to good use, enabling our lads to expertly erect the steel framework on-site. This marks a major milestone in the project, as the structure begins to clearly take shape on top of our carefully laid strip and pad foundations. The planning and precision behind this phase ensure a strong and stable framework, setting us up, nicely, for the next stages. We love seeing the hard work pumped into the design and groundworks come to life. T&C Williams (Builders) Ltd, the contractor of choice since 1962.

With construction well underway on the Broomfield Chatsworth Project at our Land-Based Broomfield Hall Campus, Professional Construction students had a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world insights from industry professionals. Three key members of the design team delivered insightful presentations to a mixed cohort of BTEC and T Level Year 2 learners at the Hudson Building. They explored the project's evolution, design development, cost considerations, and legal frameworks, bringing classroom learning to life. As this is a relatively small-scale project, it allowed for in-depth discussions on design and construction details early in the build, something often more challenging on larger projects like those recently completed at the Roundhouse Campus. To further enhance learning, students took part in a follow-up site visit, where theoretical concepts from the presentations were brought to life in a real-world setting. Seeing designs, structures, and cost considerations materialise on-site was an invaluable experience in bridging the gap between theory and practice.
