Pleasure to host such lovely students from Chailey Secondary School yesterday ❤️ Balfour Beatty Living Places / East Sussex Highways and our partners Associated Asphalt Contracting Ltd and WSP said YES! to supporting students from the school in careers learning, design processes and experiencing a real place of work. Students had a tour of the Ringmer Depot, plus heard careers journeys and had a live demo of #AutoCad plus gained some insight into the capabilities of Drones. Several students are taking place in the Mid Sussex District Council STEM Challenge, supported by one our staff STEM Ambassadors, Nick. 🌟 Delivering Social Value at Joan Hughes’s Court Retirement Village 🌟 This week members of the AA East Sussex team were invited to offer IT assistance to the retired residents who needed support with their phones and laptops. Chris Burkett (Contracts Manager), Georgia Butler (Bid Writer), Samantha Horne (Administrator), and David Isham (Plant Manager) joined forces with Balfour Beatty plc to bring social value to Joan Hughes’s Court Retirement Village. Our assistance included: - Connecting to the WiFi hub (much harder than we anticipated! 😅) - Setting up personal accounts such as email addresses - Accessing apps like Facebook and other messaging platforms - Helping with photo storage - Addressing various other technical queries The team thoroughly enjoyed engaging in conversations with the residents. It was a heartwarming experience that uplifted us as much as we hope it did them! 💬✨ This initiative highlighted the challenges some members of society face in accessing technology easily, underscoring the importance of services like this. We hope that our visit will allow the residents to use their devices more independently in the future. #socialvalue #construction #technology

🚧 A303 Amesbury and Stonehenge Project Completed! 🚧 We’re thrilled to share that our Pavement Delivery Framework team has successfully completed the complex improvement scheme for National Highways on the A303 near Stonehenge. This project required 29 different pavement types at varying depths, all while minimising disruption to road users. Our extensive workshops with the client led to a streamlined approach, delivering pavement types simultaneously to avoid joints and maximise pavement life. In addition to our technical achievements, our team also contributed to the local community by repainting fences for St Giles Animal Rescue Centre and RSPCA West Hatch. 🚧 Project Completion Announcement! 🚧 We’re thrilled to share that AA Retail successfully completed the Tesco Extra project at Bar Hill, Cambridgeshire! This project involved 19,000 sqm of resurfacing and 580lm of new drainage channels, extending up to the pending new McDonald's development. We look forward to returning to complete the access road following the completion of the McDonald's. A big thank you to everyone involved in making this project a success. We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to the AA team: Chris Marchesi, who has joined us as Technical Manager. Chris brings over 40 years of experience in the materials and surfacing world. We are excited to have him on board to enhance our technical capabilities and support our ongoing projects. As Technical Manager, Chris will be responsible for both the AA Materials and AA Contracting businesses, with some of his time also supporting research and development projects. Chris’ expertise will not only benefit our operations but also help us achieve our strategic goals. Welcome to the team, Chris!

🚧 Resurfacing work on part of the airfield at Mount Pleasant Complex in the Falkland Islands has been completed ahead of schedule! Mount Pleasant Complex is an important overseas base for the MOD, managed by Strategic Command, and forms a vital air link between the Falkland Islands and the UK. In October 2024, DIO awarded a £20 million contract to Mitie, who worked alongside expert sub-contractors from the UK. The project involved the removal of 20,000m² of the airfield's operating surface, which was then replaced with high quality asphalt. To ensure the best results, the asphalt was produced on-island in a batching plant specifically set up for the project. A huge congratulations to the team for their hard work and dedication in completing this critical project ahead of time! Falkland Islands – Mount Pleasant Airfield We are pleased to share that our programme of works on The Falkland Islands is now complete! Works involved the design and delivery of a solution for resurfacing the existing airfield taxiway, including the establishment of a mobile asphalt plant, and an onsite lab for testing materials. Our thanks go to the incredible team who made this success possible, both home and away! Together they overcame challenges that are now firmly embedded in AA folklore, including weather, penguins, environment and much more… The legacy of this project is a proven case study that AA can build a plant and lay asphalt anywhere in the world!
