The Volunteering Team at Shelter undertook a project to identify the barriers that people with lived experience face when applying to volunteer, and whilst volunteering. Since then, they have been identifying solutions to these barriers and putting them into practice to make Shelter a more inclusive organisation to volunteer. We will be joined by Abbie Piazza and Ruth Hearn from Shelter and Ped Durling from My Health Matters at the AVM Conference on 23 & 24 October, where they will explore some of the barriers for volunteers with lived experience and how to overcome them.
