This has been a great scheme to work on and we are delighted to have secured full planning permission for Barratt Homes & David Wilson Homes. A great result which will deliver much needed new homes and contribute to the Borough’s local housing needs. The development is the next piece of the jigsaw for the regeneration of Kirkby Town Centre, which is subject to ongoing investment. This decision for the scheme at Cherryfield Drive will act as a catalyst, making a significant positive contribution towards the town centres vitality and vibrancy. A fantastic start to 2025 for Asteer Planning with the news today that Hollins Strategic Land’s proposals for Gatley Golf Club in Stockport have been approved following the Public Inquiry held in November – December last year. In addition to the delivery of 278 new homes (including 50% affordable housing), the development will provide 10.8 hectares of public open space, a package of improved cycleways and footways, a minimum of 20% BNG across the site, the retention of the Heald Green Community Theatre building, the conversion of the former clubhouse into a new community hub and a series of obligations for off-site sports improvements. A really well-conceived scheme and the Inspector was satisfied that the presumption in favour of sustainable development should apply. 2024 has been a very busy one for Asteer. As we reflect on the last 12 months, below are a few of our highlights: 👩🏽🤝👨🏼6 new team members joined us, strengthening our Housing, Regeneration and Commercial, EIA and Strategic teams. 🏆We were awarded ‘Planning Team of the Year’ at the North West Residential Insider Awards 🥇A number of well-deserved promotions took place across the business, as well as successful APC results for our graduate planners. 🏢We waved goodbye to Mynshulls House and moved into our new city centre offices at Calico – please do pop in for a brew if you are in town! 🏰Our annual business away day took place in Edinburgh which set the strategy for the year to come. 👶🏼We welcomed not 1 but 3 Asteer babies. Huge congratulations to our wider Asteer family on their new arrivals. 👨⚖️We represented our clients at 3 Inquiries and delivered some great results. 📄Many planning applications were submitted and many approvals gratefully received. 🧑❤️🧑We continued to support our charity partners, Standing Tall and the Collyhurst food bank. ⛰️Climbed and conquered the 3 Peaks, and completed a few marathons / half marathons! …all whilst navigating an ever changing planning and political world. What will 2025 have in store for us….! Big appreciation to our wonderful team for all their hard work over the last 12 months.
