Today is #AntiSlaveryDay. Its purpose is to raise awareness of modern slavery, human trafficking, and exploitation. At Avenues, we are committed to protecting people in our organisation from these crimes. We have a number of measures in place to identify possible instances of modern slavery, and we strive to never be complacent by continuing to seek out additional safeguards. Through our new partnership with Unseen UK a charity which works with the survivors of modern slavery, we will further improve how we protect Avenues from these crimes. Supporting disabled people to enjoy brighter futures, and better lives.
About us
People need to live in the place they call home, with the people and things that matter to them, in communities that look out for one another, doing the things they love. Avenues is a leading support services charity working with autistic people, people with learning disabilities, and people with acquired brain injuries and complex needs. We provide specialist support and promote intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual welfare in accommodation across South East England, London, Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Shropshire. Our depth of expertise enables us to offer people the right level of support at the right times so they can develop or retain maximum independence throughout life. We also offer supplementary knowledge in areas including mental health conditions, dementia and end of life care. Our values are respect, excellence, integrity and pride; and we are on a mission to challenge and overcome the disadvantage people face through illness, injury and disability. In November 2023, we welcomed Autism Hampshire to Avenues Group, bringing additional autism expertise and a new range of services. At Avenues, we believe that well supported people support people well and we pride ourselves on our shared values. We genuinely care about the work we do and enjoy supporting people to enjoy real lives.

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay! This year we decided we are encouraging connection and community at Avenues, which is one of the key areas of the NHS's Five Ways to Wellbeing. To do this, we have asked everyone who is able to, to come into their local office and meet up with colleagues for some snacks, a catch up and some communal working! Supporting each other is important to us year-round. None of our ‘achievements’ are sustainable without the support of other people. And we cannot successfully navigate the hard times alone. That's why we champion community at Avenues. Interested in how else you can support mental wellbeing at work? Visit https://lnkd.in/eJrqJPV8

Our #WorldMentalHealthDay activity was to encourage everyone to come into the office to connect and collaborate. We had a great turn-out, and everyone enjoyed catching up and working face to face! Connecting with those around you is one of the Five Ways to Wellbeing, as advised by the NHS. Try catching up with some people in your life this weekend, and see how it makes you feel!

Daniel and David have been enjoying getting into gardening! At the beginning of the summer, the staff and the brothers decided that they would like to explore the opportunity of developing their own vegetable patch in the garden at Coleman’s. Daniel cultivated and potted, and David ensured that his hard work came to fruition by watering on a daily basis. Of course there is always one sibling that takes it easy - as you can see Andrew took the easy path and watched the hard work from afar in his lounger! Daniel at the end of the day went for an early evening stroll on the beach. Well-deserved Daniel. #SmileMoment
