We’re thrilled to see our head of growth, Annie Olivier feature in a recent Vogue Business piece exploring how brands are battling the beauty industry’s waste crisis. 🗑️ Some key takeaways: ➡ Certifications are proving to be a real differentiator for shoppers, giving them added trust in their purchases. ➡ Labour rights stand out. 68% of shoppers say it is important for a brand to pay a living wage, while a brand’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is almost just as crucial. When asked ‘What do you expect to emerge as the next frontier in ESG?’ Annie stated: “The way we’ve been doing business for the past few decades cannot continue, and it’s going to take innovative leadership to help us think outside the norm and design a truly inclusive and regenerative economic system. 🥁 Drumroll, please! We’re excited to announce our Wednesday mainstage speakers at Louder Than Words — the B Corp Festival. 1️⃣Start your morning with Patrick Grant, founder of campaigning clothes brand Community Clothing and an outspoken advocate for radical change in the fashion industry. Patrick will be discussing how we can change behaviour to change systems. 2️⃣ Hear from changemakers who have worked at the heart of the system to influence change: ➡️ Rt Hon Chris Skidmore, former UK energy minister  ➡️ Anuradha Chugh, B Lab UK board member, former MD of Ben & Jerry's and former CEO of Pukka Herbs ➡️ Farhana Yamin, British lawyer and climate activist, Farhana was a key architect of the Paris Climate Agreement. 3️⃣ Cynthia V Davis CBE, founder and CEO of Diversifying Group , will discuss why justice, equity, diversity and inclusion lie at the heart of the festival agenda. 4️⃣ To wrap up the morning, B Corps will then share their stories of impact as we celebrate (nearly) ten years of B Corps in the UK: ➡️ Brompton Bicycle’s collaboration with Sähëlï Hub to help thousands of women get active each year.  ➡ ️Finisterre's work to remove barriers to the sea through an adaptive wetsuit for people of all ages and abilities.  ➡️ The B Corp Beauty Coalition’s work to drive collective action in the beauty industry  ➡️ The Design Declares campaign to encourage UK-based designers to take action on the climate and ecological crisis. We love to see where our Certified B Corps display their coveted B Corp Plaques. But not everyone knows their origin story. 💡 Made by Elvis & Kresse at their eco-farm, these plaques are born from rescued materials. Realising that Elvis & Kresse were just down the road and having just certified, the crew from the small green studio took to their small green EV to capture the ‘making of’ their B Corp plaque. the small green studio | B Corp Certified is a purpose-led production company. They use their creative powers to bring stories to life in video, photo and podcast. Louder Than Words — The B Corp Festival is taking place in a variety of unique locations across Oxford. 📍 Today we're shining a light on Oxford Town Hall. 🎓 This historic landmark is not only in the heart of the city but also a symbol of its heritage and a hub for modern-day community life. Originally, the building was opened by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales in 1897, and now includes courtrooms, a council chamber, and a main hall. The hall has hosted many iconic moments, from Nelson Mandela’s acceptance of the Freedom of the City Award to a Rolling Stones concert. At Louder Than Words, various sessions, including debates, workshops, presentations and an Evolution of Standards exhibition, will take place at Oxford's Town Hall. The last week has seen the worst rioting on our streets in recent times. We condemn all violence and stand with the communities affected. We wholeheartedly reject racism and islamophobia in all its forms. B Lab UK remains committed to focused and sustained action to dismantle racist systems, policies, practices, and ideologies within ourselves and our networks. All businesses have a role to play in creating a society where everyone feels welcome and included. Like us, we know that B Corps will be taking action over the coming days and weeks to check in on their teams, support their communities and stand up for their values. We are seeking examples that we can share with others.
