HOLD UP. Women are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every. single. qualification. Men, on the other hand, typically apply if they meet just 60%. This is even more prevalent the more senior you go, according to a study by Harvard Business Review. The impact? 👉 Fewer women in the candidate pool 👉 Representation at senior levels continue to persist 👉 The gender pay gap extends further While progress is happening, the global gender gap is expected to take another 130 years to close (World Economic Forum). That's depressing. Change is not happening fast enough. So wha do I take from this: ✔️employers need to do all they can to encourage women to apply for roles & remove bias from their interview processes ✔️managers need to work even harder to build confidence of their female colleagues ✔️ partners/friends/families need to nudge the women in their lives to 'go for it' ✔️ women need to prioritise investing in themselves via coaching or mentoring to overcome the self doubt we have from years of gender stereotypes. Frustrated by this stat Pip & Nut | B Corp recently updated our DE&I statement on our jobs specs 👇 . Now, after the 'skills required', we have the below statement to encourage women, and people from different minority backgrounds, to apply. It's one small action, of many, that we're taking to make our recruitment process more inclusive. I'd love to hear any other things people are doing to drive more inclusivity within your recruitment process. Share your thoughts in the comments! #AccelerateAction #IWD #InternationalWomensDay2025

Hands up who regularly turns up to work with yoghurt finger prints on your trousers or some snot on your shirt 🖐 Today on IWD I wanted to speak about 🤹 THE JUGGLE 🤹. Ah, the juggle. We all know it’s real, especially if you’re a working parent. It sometimes feels like everyone’s either pretending to have it all figured out or sharing a highly curated version of their lives. Makes me wonder if I’m the only one who feels I’m not always "nailing it". If you’ve ever felt like that, you’re not alone. With that in mind I thought I’d give a peek behind the scenes and share exactly how I attempt to juggle things as a female leader, who has a family & is attempting to have some sort of a life. In sharing I hope this helps someone else out there feel a little less like they’re failing. A bit of scene setting: ♦️P&N is out of the early stage start up - it helps not having to worry about cashflow every minute of the day. ♦️Our daughter is two - she is healthy & happy (although not without her tantrums) ♦️I work full time, my partner 4 days a week  👉 Privilege plays a massive role in me being able to do what I do. I'll say it again-everything below is a privilege. But these are the things that help make it all work while building Pip & Nut and staying vaguely sane (aka managing THE JUGGLE): ➡️ Our daughter goes to nursery three days a week.  ➡️ My parents live close enough to do childcare one day (they are great & I’m lucky they are able to do this). ➡️ Our cleaner comes a couple times a week (because our home would be a disaster without her & gives us the headspace to not think too much about housework at the weekend). ➡️ We’ve got a dog walker twice a week (because, trying to fit in proper walks during the day can feel like ANOTHER thing sometimes). ➡️ I live 15 minutes from my office (saves me at least 1hr30 a week & means I can get back for pick ups in the drop of a hat). ➡️ My partner is a teacher, so his school holidays give me a bit of breathing room. He also does one day of childcare. ➡️ We’ve only got one kid for now, which, let’s face it, makes everything slightly less insane. So, yes, it looks great on paper, but compromises/mistakes happen daily: 🛁 I’m not always there for bathtime (and I feel guilty about it more than I’d like to admit). 🤦♀️I still miss things. I totally forgot World Book Day this week (fail!) 🥵 Living close to work is convenient, but London can be full on. 💸 There’s a financial pressure to make it all work. 💗 The weekly negotiation with my partner on who gets to go out which night of the week is not our idea romance. 😋 I regularly turn up to work with yoghurt smears on my top… It’s a balancing act. Some weeks are infinitely more chaotic than others.  But I hope by sharing it demystifies things somewhat. 📸 Taken yesterday after a full on week, feeling/looking a bit knackered, because my LinkedIn in profile is not representative of how I look day to day. #InternationalWomensDay

  • Two more reasons to shop at Morrisons: 1. Our Original AND Chocolate Peanut Butter Stuffed Oat Bars are now on their shelves. 2. There's a 63% higher chance of spotting a squirrel in store. In this case a 'squirrel' is a member of team Pip & Nut wearing a tail, trying to snap the perfect pic of our bars (thanks to Timothy Ratcliff for this one). See you in the aisles? P.S. Thanks to Anna Stonehouse, Amy Bruce & Amy Timmins for getting us here.

  • It's 2015. Your world is soundtracked by Adele's 'Hello', Nadiyah is winning Bake Off & your newest foodie discovery is avocado toast. The best thing to happen that year? Pip & Nut was born. Yep, ten whole years ago Pip launched her nut butter creations to the shelves of Selfridges, and the rest is (well-documented) history. Armed with a tasty nut butter and a dream of a world where using palm oil wasn't the norm, our Chief Squirrel, Pip Murray has led the charge all the way to Pip & Nut becoming the no.2 nut butter brand. This is just to say a massive thank you to everyone who bought a jar of nut butter (or two 😉). We all know our creations taste absolutely delicious but without the support of every shopper, retailer and squirrel we wouldn't be standing so strong. Here's to another decade of being nerdy about nuts. We're certainly here to stay. 🐿️

If there was a prize for The Dusty Knuckle's biggest fan, Pip Murray would be in the running - but she'd have some tough competition. On any weekend you'll be able to spot at least three members of Team Pip & Nut enjoying a sarnie or pastry at DK Dalston. That's why we're BUZZING to share that you can now get your hands on not one, not two, but three outrageously good Pip & Nut pastries at Dalston's The Dusty Knuckle. Collaborating with legends like them is no small feat. They don’t need to do collabs – their cool factor is already off the charts. & we're proud to be their first foodie collab. Not only do they make "the best croissant in town" (according to Pip), like us, they want to do business better. The Dusty Knuckle Bakery has a training programme which helps at-risk youth get on-the-job experience in their bakeries & cafés. This programme helps them take positive steps and make better choices with their future. For the next two weeks, you can sink your teeth into three epic Pip & Nut | B Corp-inspired pastries: 🥐The Pip & Nut Turnover - A sweet pastry case filled with creamy Pip & Nut Peanut Butter caramel & peanut butter frangipane, topped with a chocolate and caramel dome. That's not all, this treat is finished with caramelised peanuts and a crumbled peanut butter stuffed oat bars. Genius. 🍓PB & Jam - A sweet pastry case filled with a layer of strawberry & rhubarb, peanut butter frangipane and a final layer of homemade Dusty Knuckle jam. 🍫The Caramel Choc Nutter - An extra crispy outside with layers of puff pastry, Sweet & Salty Peanut Butter and a caramel mixed with our dark chocolate peanut butter cup. Mind-blowing. Save us a seat!

Have you heard? Early January forecasts are predicting a UK-wide squirrel blizzard, followed by record highs in Pip & Nut brand awareness and unprecedented waves of peanut butter jars in baskets. Sounds big. That's because it is. We're kicking off 2025 with our biggest media investment and ATL campaign yet. We’re talking nationwide out-of-home billboards, screens, banners & buses, influencer partnerships & podcast host reads. Oh, and branded in-store experiences, screens and feature space too. So, what’s the big idea? We know that once people try Pip & Nut, they literally become obsessed (IYKYK). Our biggest brand fans have been known to carry jars in their handbags, take mini jars with them on holiday and someone even has a Pip & Nut tattoo (yes, seriously). So, this campaign plays on this insight as we invite everyone to join in our obsession with all things nuts. Created by Who Wot Why London, our OOH creative showcases our signature squirrels in all their glory, alongside our recognisable typeface and bold white background, using consistent brand codes to build brand awareness and mental availability. We’re also tapping into digital channels with our second round of podcast host reads, delivering deeper storytelling with hosts shouting all about their own obsession with Pip & Nut, whilst content creators on Instagram & TikTok share their obsession confessions in shareable, funny and thumb stopping content. Hopefully you’re just as excited as us to see more Pip & Nut than ever before. Billboard selfies are encouraged. Huge shout out to Jacqueline Ellis-Jones, Amy Bellchambers, Jessie Kenneth, Tash Ruparelia, Mary Hollamby, Robbie Whyte, Milly Collyer, Fiona Harper, Katie Collins, Build Media Limited, Who Wot Why London & Whalar for making this campaign happen.

  • Sound advice as always from Chief Squirrel Pip Murray 🐿️ Big thanks to Business Leader & Dougal Shaw 🙌

Meeting a new entrepreneur every Monday for Business Leader, where I’m Senior Correspondent

"Be active to build your own luck in business." 🎙️ That's the advice from Pip Murray, founder and chief squirrel at Pip & Nut | B Corp, my latest guest on the My Business Leader Secret series. This is the last episode of the year, so maybe you can act on Pip's advice in 2025? She illustrates what she means by telling a story from her early days as a start-up, selling her home-made creations at food markets. Her natural nut-butter business now employs more than 30 people and has annual retail revenues of more than £25m. It is stocked in many supermarkets. For a weekly diet of original, informative and inspiring business videos like this, follow me Dougal Shaw and Business Leader. cc Emma Divers Jacqueline Ellis-Jones Milly Collyer

  • We might talk about squirrels a lot, but everyone knows it's the humans that make Pip & Nut. We're lucky to have some pretty good ones at The Nest, so it's important we treat them, and anyone around us, with respect. Today is #HumanRightsDay. Every year it marks a historic pledge made by the UN, back in 1948, known as the Universal Declaration of Rights. We may not be the biggest company out there, but when it comes to Human Rights that doesn't matter. It's important we have, and share, our own Human Rights Policy. So, here's how we respect and protect Human Rights at Pip & Nut: https://lnkd.in/eNR9JkzD
