We're proud to showcase a fantastic commercial staircase project that was bespoke fabricated and installed by one of our talented customers. This type of project is a true example of the strength of our supply-chain capabilities. Our customer was supported by their local depot, which provided the raw steelwork, including beams and hollow sections for fabrication. You'll then notice this steelwork project was expertly finished with oak handrails, stainless bracket arms, saddles, crossbar holders and 16mm tube. At Barrett Steel we have our own in-house stainless and glass brand Fastec Handrail Systems Limited who can supply all these components, and more. Today, we proudly join in the celebrations of Lincolnshire Day, honoring the rich history and spirit of a remarkable county. This year holds extra significance as we reveal the full frame build of the iconic ‘On Freedom’s Wings’ Lancaster monument – a tribute to the brave airmen of WWII who flew from Lincolnshire’s skies. As home to some of the UK's most pivotal wartime airbases, Lincolnshire earned its title as the "Bomber County." The monument will stand as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the Royal Air Force Bomber Command. 🌍✈️ Our team who attended the Timmins Engineering & Construction Ltd open day with their families were deeply moved to witness three flyovers by Thumper MKIII, one of the legendary aircraft from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (RAF-BBMF). Based in Lincolnshire at RAF Coningsby. The BBMF keeps history alive with its iconic Spitfires, Hurricanes, Lancaster, Dakota, and more. Their presence at the event reminded us of the indomitable spirit of those who took to the skies in defense of freedom and there is even a photo of our Lancaster taken from the plane itself. Barrett Steel is honored to have supplied the steel for this lasting tribute. Over the last few months we have showcased the impressive operational improvements that are currently underway at our Barrett Engineering Steel Bolton site, further enhancing its operational capacity and efficiency. Last week marked a significant milestone with the installation of a third, new Konecranes, strengthening the site's material handling capabilities. This addition is part of a broader modernisation project aimed at increasing productivity, streamlining processes, and meeting growing demand. We are excited to share a progress update on the ongoing construction of the Lancaster Bomber Memorial with our partners Timmins Engineering & Construction Ltd. Over the course of the project our Construction and Tubes teams have supplied hundreds of tonnes of stock and processed materials to support the build of this exceptional memorial. More importantly though, this project wouldn't be possible without the honed skills of the fantastic Timmins team and the incredible volunteers who recently gave their time and effort for one final big push to complete the substructure of the Bomber County Gateway Trust's Lancaster Bomber Memorial! 🙌 The "On Freedom’s Wings" project is a significant initiative that honours the bravery and sacrifice of the Lancaster Bomber crews during World War II. This memorial not only serves as a tribute to those who served but also as a means to educate future generations, combining art, history, and engineering in a way that preserves the legacy of these heroes.
