Basalt Infrastructure Partners

Both the New York and London teams at Basalt Infrastructure Partners have been busy in September using their volunteering days to help good causes. The New York team volunteered with Prospect Park Alliance, a non-profit organisation that partners with the City of New York, to sustain, restore, and advance Prospect Park (Brooklyn’s flagship park which receives more than 10 million visits each year).   The London team spent a day at Honor Oak Adventure Playground with London Play Design. They were busy repairing bridges, floorboards and joists, saving nearly £3,000 in labour and materials, and benefitting over 140 children who visit the project each week. Katie Ahmed, Basalt's ESG Manager, said "It's a fantastic opportunity to get the team outside together to do something different and help the local community, as well as getting to know each other's unknown skills - thank you to all who attended".

Further appointments are expected to be made in the next few months across the platform bringing the Basalt team to c.50 members.

Here are some of the Basalt Infrastructure Partners team visiting the Xpress Natural Gas Eliot compression/injection station in Eliot Maine recently. They are standing by the two foot “turtle” fence that goes around the entire perimeter of the facility.   The fence prevents a local bale of an endangered species of Turtle (Blandings Snapper turtles) from wandering into and being potentially harmed by the transport operations at the facility.  There is also a cattle grid across the access road to prevent them wandering out onto the main road. Basalt is delighted to share its 2023 Annual ESG Report which details the progress made across the Firm, Funds and Portfolio Companies over the course of 2023. Some ESG highlights across the Basalt portfolio in 2023 include: - Over 633,330 MWh of renewable power generated; - C. 16,600 employees; - More than 160 new roles created; and - Over 270 volunteering days taken We are proud of the progress made over 2023 and look forward to continuing to work with our key stakeholders to further advance our ESG initiatives over 2024.

Caronte & Tourist S.p.A. have completed their first LNG fueling of the Nerea vessel in Sicily.   Operations were conducted via truck-to-ship bunkering and represent an important milestone for LNG fueled vessels operating on the island.   Congratulations to the team and we look forward to continuing to work towards a more sustainable future of infrastructure.

Basalt is excited to announce the delivery of Ro-Pax vessel Nerea, the second dual fuel diesel-LNG carrier in the fleet of Caronte & Tourist S.p.A. constructed at Turkey’s Sefine Shipyard.   The 110m vessel can carry up to 800 passengers and will be deployed between Sicily and the Minor Islands.    Congratulations to Caronte & Tourist on this great achievement and another step towards a more sustainable future.

Congratulations to Wightlink | Isle of Wight Ferries who won gold in the Best Ferry Company at the British Travel Awards this week! We are delighted for the Wightlink team, and it is a testament to the hard work of everyone across the business. After winning silver last year its great to see the team seal the top-spot for 2023!

Last week, Basalt Infrastructure Partners hosted its annual ESG Forum, welcoming ESG leads from across the Basalt portfolio. We were delighted to be joined by 20 ESG professionals both in person and virtually, representing 16 of Basalt’s portfolio companies in Europe and North America. Basalt’s ESG manager, Katie Ahmed hosted the event at Basalt’s London Office, with discussions led by Katie, as well as Basalt Partners and ESG Committee members Neil O'Hara and John Hanna.  The Forum provided the group an opportunity to share insights from their own experiences, with case studies presented by Nobina Sverige AB, Wightlink | Isle of Wight Ferries and Unilode Aviation Solutions, and discussions were held on topics including Health and Safety, ESG regulation, diversity and inclusion, ESG reporting and Net Zero. The annual ESG Forum is a fantastic opportunity to bring the wider Basalt community together and have a focused day to recognise the positive ESG activity happening across the portfolio as well as share knowledge and ideas for future opportunities. Congratulations to the team on a successful event and thank you to all who attended!
