🌳GROW your wellbeing during Stress Awareness Week (November 4-8) by enrolling on a fully-funded horticulture course at BCHA’s New Leaf allotment. 👍Whether you would like to cultivate your confidence, nurture your gardening skills or even sow the seeds of a new career, New Leaf provides a way to learn in harmony with nature.🐝 For learner Karl, the allotment is a place of personal growth: “I came here with no confidence or motivation, feeling a little daunted. Within one session I found myself looking forward to coming back. The small group is welcoming and Miles the tutor is great. I’m learning so much about soil, plants and growing my own food – and it’s nothing like school! I’ll leave with an NVQ qualification: a stepping stone to a job and a new start for me.” Courses on offer: ⭐City and Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Practical Horticulture. ⭐City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture. The courses are fully funded for Dorset-based adults over 19 (we also cover 50% of public travel expenses). 📍 Location: New Leaf Allotment, Throop, Bournemouth 📍The next courses now available for enrolment: Level 2 winter-themed course starting January 14th 2025 and Level 1 winter-themed course starting February 6, 2025. ☎️ Call us on 01202 410595 - visit www.bcha.org.uk or email: bchalearn@bcha.org.uk #stressawarenessweek #horticulture #wellbeing

🔊BCHA and Recoop have approved a decision to demerge Recoop from BCHA👏🏻 The planned demerger will take place by 31 March 2025, marking an exciting new chapter for Recoop ✨ Lorraine Mealings, BCHA CEO said “While we will be sad to see Recoop leave the BCHA family, as a really important subsidiary within the Group structure, this move supports Recoop in becoming an independent organisation, enabling it to continue its important work and grow into the future.” Kerryn Wotton, Recoop Chair said “This is an exciting juncture for Recoop as the charity continues to grow and secure longer term contracts, in the Justice arena. The security and corporate support provided whilst part of the BCHA Group, provided the foundation for the success and growth that Recoop has enjoyed in recent years.” https://lnkd.in/eErq8YnP

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night to launch the A Flavour of Liberty cookbook. Co-produced by residents of our Liberty Project, survivors of modern-day slavery and human trafficking, each recipe carries a story of its creator with funds raised from the book helping us to continue to support individuals who have been exploited. The book release comes as we join others to mark #AntiSlaveryDay today (Friday 18 October) and raise awareness of the thousands of people living in modern slavery in the UK. Modern slavery can take many forms, including domestic exploitation, human trafficking, labour exploitation, sexual exploitation, forced and early marriage, illegal adoption, and criminal exploitation such as forced begging. If you suspect modern slavery, you can report it to the Modern Slavery Helpline on tel: 08000 121 700. Supporting survivors of modern slavery is central to our work, providing recovery support to victims through trauma informed care, guidance and support through Home Office systems, as well as partnership work in legal advice and counselling. To find out more visit the BHCA website: https://lnkd.in/e_w2TC7H A Flavour of Liberty cookbook is available to purchase through Amazon: https://lnkd.in/egSWsqud

🌍 The Shocking Reality: 50 Million People Trapped in Modern Slavery 🌍 According to the International Labour Organisation, nearly 50 million people are living in modern slavery worldwide - a staggering increase of 10 million in just five years. And sadly, the real number is likely much higher due to the hidden nature of this crime. At BCHA, we are deeply committed to raising awareness and advocating for a world free from slavery. As part of Modern Slavery Awareness Week, the BCHA executive team and board proudly wears #WeAreNotForSale stickers to show solidarity and spread the message. #EndModernSlavery #BCHA #ModernSlaveryAwarenessWeek
