Our third Health & Life Sciences Workforce Development Partnership (WDP) meeting took place on Wednesday, 23rd October, at Green Park (Reading) in collaboration with the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Health and Life Sciences Working Group! 💼🧬 It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout and for attendees to recognise the value of participating in both sessions. The Workforce Development Partnership session covered a range of important topics, including a robust discussion on the apprenticeship levy and its impacts across organisations of all sizes. Several innovative ideas were raised to enhance flexibility within the program. 💡 Sustainability was also a major theme, with Activate Learning sharing impactful cross-sector work being done to support employers with this essential agenda. 🌍 Insights from a recent skills survey sparked a passionate debate on bootcamps, exploring training levels employers require and how providers and employers can collaborate more effectively. The meeting closed on a high note, with several promising ideas to carry forward. Thank you to all the amazing participants who made this session so productive and insightful, including: Tanya Jenkins from Lonza Christopher Pollard from Field Seymour Parkes LLP Eamonn Egan (EdD) from The Henley College Joanne Thurston from Lonza Vivien Gordan, Alison Wheatley and Deborah Jervis from The Windsor Forest Colleges Group Richard Byard from Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) Aahad Ali from Bayer James Harris from Michael Page Joanna Birrell from Berks LEP Paul Emberlin, Daniel Neild, and Hannah O'Neill from Activate Learning Richard Devall from HCR Law Jacinta George from RSSL Jim Reay from Syngenta Walter Lucchesi from Royal Holloway, University of London Clarissa Wheeler from Ascentis Group David Saab, Jane Saggers and Robert Nienaber from Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Jo Sandy from Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Nicholas West-Oram from Get Berkshire Active Sue Beasley from Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) We look forward to seeing these discussions evolve into impactful initiatives for the Health & Life Sciences sector.
