New investment! 🎭 For over 45 years, NTC TOURING THEATRE COMPANY LTD has brought professional theatre to rural communities, enriching lives and making the arts accessible to all. But with limited core funding, sustaining their impact has become increasingly challenging. That’s why Big Issue Invest, in partnership with The North East Combined Authority is providing a £50,000 social investment, helping NTC secure future productions, expand touring opportunities, and build a more sustainable revenue model - ensuring theatre continues to thrive in some of the UK’s most remote areas. Their impact speaks for itself: 💬 "We have been attending these performances as a family for easily 10 years. My children are 15 and 17 and still come and enjoy it each year. There's not many things they're still prepared to go to as a family. Not much happens in our small rural village, so we appreciate this all the more." We’re proud to support a creative force that brings people together in the #Northeast. If you’re a social purpose organisation in the Northeast seeking investment, please contact our investment manager Richard Wills. #SocialInvestment #ArtsForAll #BigIssueInvest #TheatreForChange

Big Issue Invest reposted this
We’re committed to delivering social impact and have been since 1991 when the Big Issue magazine was founded by Lord John Bird to give people experiencing homelessness a way to earn an immediate and legitimate income. 📰 This is why becoming one of the original B Corps in the UK back in 2015 made so much sense to us. 🚀 Wrapping up an incredible journey with our Power Up London cohorts one and two! Our final workshop explored the benefits and risks of AI for social purpose organisations. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring participants together and deepen their learning experience. In a world of constant change, we recognise the importance of supporting entrepreneurs as they navigate new challenges. One of the biggest opportunities? 🤖✨ AI has the potential to be a powerful tool for social enterprises—helping to drive inclusivity, streamline operations, and amplify impact. From fundraising to communications and beyond, social entrepreneurs can harness AI to do more with less. We explored both the opportunities and risks of AI, emphasizing ethical considerations, the importance of human oversight, and how to maintain creativity within AI frameworks. A huge thank you to Tim Cook, who led this insightful session. With his deep expertise, having served as Deputy Head of AI at DCMS, Tim is now focused on helping the social sector unlock AI’s potential. It was a privilege to learn from him! We’re excited to see how our Power Up London participants put these insights into action. 💡 Power Up London is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. #PowerUpLondon #SocialEnterprise #AIforGood

Back in 2015 Big Issue Group became a B Corp. The B Corp movement exists to make business a force for good - something we’re proud to have been doing since day one. Since 1991, when John Bird founded the Big Issue magazine, our mission has been to create business solutions to social crises. We exist to give people the tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty - not through charity, but through enterprise and opportunity. Now, as a growing social business made up of Big Issue, Big Issue Invest and Big Issue Recruit and part of a community of over 2,300 UK B Corps, we’re held to high social and environmental standards, ensuring we continue to maximize our impact. Our overall score B Corp score is 97 - the median score is 50.9 - we are proud of this. Being a B Corp isn’t a destination; it’s a journey of continuous improvement and we face a challenging road ahead. 3.8 million people in the UK are destitute - struggling to eat, clothe and keep themselves warm. But we are up for the fight and committed to creating lasting solutions to the poverty crisis. Here's to the B Corp Community - Happy B Corp Month - Alone we are a B Corp, but together we are #GenB. Let's keep being a force for good. #BCorp #BCorpUK #BCorpMonth #impact #socialimpact B Lab UK
