This feels a bit of a non-story as energy pricing already differs by region - standing charges vary by region based on the complexity of the infrastructure needed to deliver power to that area and the local population's needs, unit rates and the price cap also differ by region. That said, anything that throws a spotlight on the energy market and encourages a discussion about changing how bits of it work should be welcomed. https://lnkd.in/ezqVYvGT

Celebrating Black History Month at Bionic! We kicked off Black History Month with the first in a series of inspiring sessions hosted by Ashleigh Ainsley FRSA, co-founder of Colorintech.org. Ashleigh took us through an exploration of Black history, culture, and the ongoing challenges black people and people of colour face, in the tech industry. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn, reflect, and connect with colleagues, all while fostering a greater commitment to inclusivity and social justice. Thank you to everyone who joined, engaged in thoughtful discussions, and made the event a success! #BlackHistoryMonth #ReclaimingNarratives #DiversityInTech #BeBionic #InclusionMatters

🔜 The #AutumnStatement is set to 'look bleak' with a big financial hole left to fill. The government has hinted it won't directly raise personal taxes, so where exactly will the money come from to fill this black hole? 🤔 There have been whispers of increases to capital gains tax, dividend tax and even IPT tax. These all affect small businesses. IPT (Insurance Premium Tax) is a general tax on insurance premiums, it works like VAT and is passed onto the government by insurers. For most businesses and commercial landlords, there's a standard rate of 12% and it's included in the costs of your insurance premiums. Since 2011 the standard rate of IPT tax has risen by 140% in previous budgets 😱, inflating costs and squeezing the pockets of UK small business owners.  A further rise could make things even worse. Is that fair? ❌😤 #UkSmallBusinesses #SmallBusinessSupport #AutumnBudget

The energy price cap changes tomorrow. It's going up by about 10%, so from October 1 to December 31, household rates will be... 💡 24.50p per kWh of electricity 🔥 6.24p per kWh of gas Standing charges (a flat daily rate paid regardless of how much energy you use) will be... 💡 60.99p per day for electricity 🔥 31.66p per day for gas ❗ A few things to remember... 🏠 The figure of £1,717 per year is based on a typical household using electricity and gas and paying by Direct Debit. If you use more or less than a 'typical household' or pay differently, this will be reflected in your bills. 🏭 There is no price cap on non-domestic energy. If you have a commercial energy meter (your meter class starts with anything other than 01 or 02) then the cap will not affect how much you pay. If you're not on a fixed-rate contract you could see your prices go up though - an increase in the cap could indicate that prices are rising.
