Very tired today after working flat out to move all our educational stuff onto a new learning platform BUT… super excited to be in London for the prestigious Black Female Doctors UK awards event dedicated to honouring the remarkable women making groundbreaking contributions in healthcare. 🏆I’m still pinching myself that I’m a finalist for 2 awards this evening. The Essential Baby Co in the Community CIC is getting an upgrade! We are moving to a dedicated learning platform where we bring healthcare professionals and the public into one learning environment. Where we can truly become partners in our own care ❤️ 🤩 I am merely a vehicle for the community who put their trust in me to amplify their voices and influence policy to improve health equity. They can see the potential and they see this as an opportunity to finally be heard. It’s not going to be easy but it’s definitely going to revolutionise the way patients and the public interact with healthcare systems. It’s a thing of equitable beauty! 🙏 If you are a healthcare professional and want to join us, go to our website and fill out a haPPIE Collaborator application form: https://lnkd.in/edb_6nxZ Please share! What a night at the Cura-H awards organised by the phenomenal committee of Black Female Doctors UK and hosted by the beautiful Dr. Aziza Sesay. We celebrated the achievements of powerhouses Dr Annabel Sowemimo, Molly Fenton, Dr Ally Jaffee MBChB BSc and Tanya Simon-Hall among many others and heard inspirational speeches from Nighat Arif and Tina Backhouse who reminded us that our shared humanity is the way to tackle health inequity which still exists across race, culture and class. I am humbled that The Lowdown were invited, let alone nominated as finalists amongst such incredible professionals. We came for the awards and stayed for the dancing, and can't wait for next year's event! #womenshealth #womenshealthmatters #womenshealthcare #healthinequalities #workingmoms #workingmothers

It was so wonderful to attend the Black Female Doctors UK first Cura-H awards alongside Monique Carayol and to see the hard work Dr Julie Hammond MRCGP MBBS BSc DRCOG and the team put together. The evening was filled with so many inspirational women within healthcare, sharing, uplifting and supporting one another. Throughout the evening it was lovely speak to so many that are not only aware of NHS Practitioner Health but have accessed and benefited from the service. I would also like to say a huge congratulations to Dr Ally Jaffee MBChB BSc on winning mental health advocate of the year. And finally I had a little fan girl moment when I met the lovely Nighat Arif who left us all with her inspiring words to close the evening. I look forward to Cura-H 2025 well done ladies!

CURA-H AWARDS DINNER HIGHLIGHTS 👉🏿Only an event as engaging, entertaining and inspirational as the maiden Cura-H Awards and Dinner could get me suited, booted👢 & knotted to the teeth😬 like a Hugo Boss mannequin, as I turned out on Saturday night. 👉🏿 Dr Anna Kusi & her Black Female Doctors UK Team's impeccably planned evening made every minute worth it. The solo hosting job by Dr. Aziza Sesay was outstanding. The riveting keynote address by @Dr Maggi Andi is one I would not forget. 👉🏿 My take home from the evening was the LOVE themed keynote. 👉🏿L- Live to give to your community and to society. 👉🏿O- Opportunities are meant to be discerned and grabbed with both hands in order to fulfill the purpose we are here for. What Opportunities are currently around me being missed because they appear in cloacks of challenges ? 👉🏿V- Vision is so key to achieving anything worth while. Dr Andi shared how reading Mary Kay's book as an 11 year old shaped her vision of her future. She spoke so instructively about how this vision got her into Dental School against all odds, and helped in raising finance to secure her Dental Practice. 👉🏿 E- Education is so important to moving forward yours and the cause of those you support. Never stop learning, improving your skill and gaining insight in your area of endeavour. 👉🏿What a night that was! I feel privileged to have been on the panel of judges to assess the outstanding entries by such a cohort of gifted women doing incredible things in healthcare. That was a momentous way to usher in the week of the International Women's Day. #Cura-H #IWD #healthcareexcellence #healthcareawards #ladyboss
