Hospitals and Health Care

The leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick.

About us

Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby. We need help to support the already stretched NHS to drive improvements in neonatal care, to ensure that the needs of babies are at the heart of policy and planning for the future, and to provide information and support to 100,000 families with a baby in neonatal care each year. Tomorrow, more than 300 babies will be admitted to neonatal care. Help ensure they get the best care by visiting bliss.org.uk/support-bliss

  • 💙This Full-Term February, we’re shining a light on the unique challenges faced by families of full-term babies in neonatal care. Filmed on a busy neonatal ward, this video features Dr. Ngozi Edi-Osagie, NHS England's National Clinical Director for Neonatal Care, discussing why this campaign matters. ❗Did you know that 60% of the 90,000 babies admitted to neonatal units each year are born after 37 weeks? These families often feel unprepared for this journey, and that's why Bliss provides dedicated resources to support them. 👶🏾Did your full-term baby have to spend time in the Neonatal Unit? What three words would you use to sum up your experience? Tell us in the comments 👇🏾 Visit our website or social channels to access tailored advice, share your stories, and help us raise awareness. #FullTermFeb #FullTermFeelings #TeamBliss

  • ‘It gives parents a chance to be where they need to be – by their baby’s side.’ This is how one family described the life-changing impact of the new neonatal leave and pay entitlement. Bliss is proud to have worked closely with the government to bring about this vital support for families of premature and sick babies, ensuring they have the time they need during such a critical period. We will continue to campaign for families of babies born premature or sick so that no parent is forced to choose between returning to work or being with their sick baby in hospital. https://lnkd.in/eRW6fyrK
