    It's easy to list a skill or qualification on a CV, but how can you test whether the candidate really has the know-how? There are certain key skills that people hiring data analysts and data engineers always need. For example: For Analysts: - Ability to use tools to visualise data - Communication - listening, understanding, explaining, presenting - Producing the right queries to get the right insights For Engineers: - Data pipeline generation & optimisation - Excellent programming & coding - Building, maintaining and managing data warehouses In the interview process, it's essential to ask questions designed to test these skills. Using real examples from your business is a good way of seeing whether candidates are able to relate their experience back to your vacancy.     If you're looking for work, it's important to make sure recruitment agencies are up to date with your work experience. Even if you've previously registered with an agency, it's a good idea to re-register when you have new experience or qualifications on your CV. More so if you're a contractor who often changes role.
