City-wide nightlife community. A Bristol Council partnership to support the city at night and everyone who works 6pm-6am
About us
Bristol Nights is a nightlife community A partnership project from Bristol City Council. Our purpose is to support the city at night, and everyone who works from 6pm-6am. The heart of Bristol Nights is collaboration. We work with nightlife stakeholders across the city to help Bristol flourish after dark. The city doesn’t stop at 6 o’clock. Nightlife is the heart and soul of our community. It's where we come together to eat, dance, laugh and spend time with friends and family. Bristol’s night time economy incorporates all businesses who operate between 6pm-6am. Over 116,000 people work at night in Bristol, this is 41% of the city's jobs. Bristol Nights is dedicated to advocating for the night through coordinated, practical, city-wide solutions. We are proud to champion essential issues which create better jobs, safer spaces, and wellbeing support for night workers. Our focus is on practical advice, talent development and training. Bristol Nights believe that nightlife is a force for good. We are vibe creators, storytellers, a space to break bread and the seedbed of music innovation. We celebrate the talent, diversity, creativity, and joy of Bristol after dark.

Bold proposals for a new fund aimed at supporting Bristol’s iconic music scene have been launched. Bristol Music Fund is not just a music fund – it is a new economic model rooted in community power. Over the past 18 months, Bristol Nights has been in conversation with the music industry to imagine a better future for Bristol’s internationally renowned music scene and to collaborate on creating a self-sustaining funding model to invest in music in the city. After months of talking, listening, and collaborating with the sector, Bristol Nights is proud to share 'A Ticket To The Future', a feasibility study co-designed with strategy development specialists PRD, and venues, promoters, artists and the music community. A huge thank you to special guest Tom Kiehl, CEO of UK Music for joining us at the launch event last night, and to the music industry who turned out to support. We are thrilled to launch this paper and invite you to join us in our Ticket to The Future.... https://lnkd.in/eqgDgkCu

Upskilling your night life team Bristol’s night time economy is about more than the pubs, clubs, venues and restaurants – it’s about the 116,000 people that work from 6pm to 6am and support the city. Without them, the city that we know and love would be a very different place. To help create a vibrant nightlife across the city, support a diverse and inclusive offering, and prioritise safety alongside entertainment we’ve launched two training programmes to get you and your teams ready for the autumn and the return of university students back to the city: · Thrive at Night · Women’s Safety Charter You’re busy, your time is precious. We know that. That’s why the Bristol Nights training has been co-designed with the night time sector to make sure it’s as useful and relevant as possible to those attending, and is constantly evolving so there’s always something new to learn…. including the Worker Protection Bill, an amendment of Equality Act 2010, which comes into effect from October 2024. Our aim is to build a network of safety advocates across the city at night, whether you work behind the bar, in a taxi, on the door or anywhere in a public facing role in nightlife. Through Bristol Nights, we offer three types of training: ⭐ Nightlife teams: anti-harassment training for nightlife teams, teaching them how to recognise, respond to, and record harassment, including bystander intervention training. ⭐ Champion Training: empowering Champions, giving them the tools and techniques to create safer spaces and promote a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment. ⭐ Train the Trainer: Learn how to deliver our anti-harassment training for nightlife teams. The training will give you the skills, confidence and resources to empower your teams to recognise and intervene in instances of harassment in your spaces.
