About us
The BCDD Association is a not-for-profit organisation consisting of Doctors, Dentists and medical/dental students of Caribbean heritage based in the UK. The BCDD aims to increase visual representation of Caribbean’s in medicine and dentistry and to provide a support network for those within the profession. We hope to be able to inspire the next generation of Caribbean doctors and dentists in the UK and to raise the aspirations of young people thereby increasing the numbers of Caribbean’s within these profession. Our aims are: 1. To increase visual representation of Caribbean’s in medicine and dentistry 2. To run outreach programmes thereby raising aspirations and inspiring young people of Caribbean heritage to pursue a career in medicine or dentistry 3. To support junior members of the network through mentoring and professional development 4. To promote health within the Black community through health education events and campaigns 5. To influence equality, diversity and inclusion policy 6. To advocate against health inequalities particularly those affecting the Black community.
