  • A little small talk can save lives. If you notice someone who seems vulnerable or at risk of suicide while using the rail network, we encourage you to reach out and connect with them. A simple conversation can help interrupt their distressing thoughts and show them that they’re not alone.

  • A brazen gang of cashpoint burglars now face more than 20 years in prison.   Their initial plan was abandoned when a member of rail staff arrived for his shift and contacted the police, causing the hapless team to leave a trail of evidence behind including the tools they used to break open the ATM at Lancaster station.   Several pieces of evidence were examined at the scene, including a mobile phone linked to Jepson, and DNA swabs matched to both Jepson and Waine. After analysing Jepson's phone, police also linked the burglary to Doyle.   Undeterred by this initial failed attempt, Jepson struck again, attempting to break into an ATM at Berwick station this time using explosives.   A few hours later, officers discovered the getaway car scattered with ATM parts and a patrol disc stone cutter matching the CCTV footage.   Officers then executed search warrants for Doyle, Grant, and Waine, promptly arresting and charging them in connection with the Lancaster offence.   Read more about this complex BTP investigation: https://lnkd.in/eKfQF2bx

  • Swift investigation and action led to arrest after sexual assault on the Elizabeth line 🚨. We received a report that a woman had been sexually assaulted on the Elizabeth line, while the crime was being investigated the suspect was seen re-entering a station the following day. Officers gathered evidence and trawled through CCTV footage to secure crucial images to identify the suspect and deploy. The suspect was spotted with assistance from rail staff, and BTP officers who were patrolling the station were alerted, he was swiftly stopped and arrested just two days after the assault. The suspect has been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department with bail restrictions in place. We will not tolerate any form of sexual abuse or violence across the railway network. This result demonstrates our commitment to pursue justice for victims and ensure public safety.

Vicky is deeply passionate and shares key attributes which have helped her exceed throughout her career. Her work is a strong example of leadership and helps keep you safe across the railway network 💪.

  • Ahead of International Women’s Day we’re sharing Chief Superintendent and Divisional Commander Sandra England’s incredible journey throughout her 30-year career with BTP. Sandra grew up in a socio-economically deprived mining town, yet her parents instilled strong values which shaped and guided her. Most importantly, they taught Sandra to challenge injustices and give support and kindness to those who need it most. These beliefs drove Sandra to a career in policing from a very early age. Early on, Sandra felt she was one of few women across policing teams, yet her determination to succeed and rise through the ranks led to her becoming the first female Chief Inspector Commander for Wales. From working with the Cabinet Office during HM the Queen’s Funeral to planning and delivering the policing for the 2012 Olympics, Sandra’s career has been full of action. Sandra is just one example of the many women in BTP who are paving the way and taking swift and decisive steps to #AccelerateAction 💪
