We joined @BTP to talk to commuters about #HateCrimeAwarenessWeek. We spoke about what constitutes a hate crime & heard that some people brush off abuse as its something they've had all their life. You shouldn’t have to put up with hate crime. Report it https://lnkd.in/edEAm7DV
About us
Policing the Square Mile brings with it particular challenges, quite unlike any other policing area within the UK. The City of London is the world’s leading international financial and business centre. It is an area where disruption to ‘business as usual’ would have significant impact on the diverse range of business interests located here. We are committed to fighting crime at all levels. Although we fulfil a national role tackling fraud and other serious criminality, our local role is no less important to us.

The launch of the National Business Crime Centre Safer Business Action Week is always a good excuse to get out and meet some of those on the frontline to understand the challenges. Here I am with Assistant Commissioner Paul Betts meeting colleagues in Boots.

Increased police visibility, hate crime and cycle crime are things you want us to tackle, but is your number one priority listed for us to include in our three year policing plan? https://lnkd.in/e9fXtSGk

Yesterday saw the fourth Economic Crime Briefing take place in the iconic Barbican Centre, in the heart of London. The Economic Crime Briefing is an opportunity to discuss what we, as national lead force, are already doing in the fight against fraud as well as the important milestones that we have coming up in 2025. With many forces from across the country in attendance, the event provides an excellent platform for voices of policing, both at a local and national level, to come together and share ideas widely on all things fraud and cyber crime. The day featured speakers which included Tijs Broeke, Chair of the City of London Police Authority Board, new Commissioner Pete O'Doherty O’Doherty, Service Delivery Director at City of London Police Chris Bell FCIPS and Hannah Von Dadelszen from Chief Crown Prosecutor, CPS. Topics that were discussed included the launch, and forthcoming improvements to the current Action Fraud service, the direction and commitment from government with regards to the recent Fraud Strategy and the fantastic results of nationwide activity such as Henhouse 3. Thanks to everyone who took part and attended, and we look forward to seeing you all next year.
