TyreSafe's activities helped reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured in a tyre-related accident by 46%
With the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning after the weekend's downpours, it's more important than ever to make sure your tyres are ready for the wet roads ahead. Wet weather means longer stopping distances and reduced grip, so ensuring your tyres are in good condition with sufficient grip is key to staying safe. Don’t risk it – visit the TyreSafe website for tips and advice on how to keep your tyres safe for driving in these hazardous conditions. https://lnkd.in/eXgxxQjA

On Tuesday, 24th September, Darren Lindsey MBA BEng (Hons) , Chief Executive of the British Tyre Manufacturers' Association (BTMA), will be speaking at this year’s TRA Briefing Day at Woodland Grange Hotel, Leamington Spa. As the tyre industry prepares for Defra’s Digital Waste Tracking and new Environment Agency (EA) registration requirements, Darren will highlight the major progress in tyre recovery—80% of tyres are collected, recycled, or reused—and address the pressing challenge of the remaining 20% still unaccounted for. He’ll explore how the industry can further reduce waste and enhance sustainability. This aligns with the BTMA's vision to lead the industry in enhancing road safety, reducing environmental impact, and ensuring high standards in health and safety. The BTMA is dedicated to promoting sustainability, improving road safety, and driving competitiveness in the tyre sector. Don’t miss out on key insights and collaborative discussions! 🛞 Last week, ETRMA's team learned more about the end-of-life #tyre (#ELT) management ecosystem thanks to Circtec, Granuband and Reedijk Used Tyres. When you change your tyres, the old ones are collected and treated for material recycling and energy recovery Secondary raw materials can be extracted from used tyres and repurposed in our and other industries. In mechanical recycling, after removing steel and fabric components, shredded ELTs can be recycled for rubber granules and powder, used in products like rubber-modified asphalt. ETRMA has called for developing European criteria for materials derived from ELTs to enhance their market potential and ensure quality and safety. We will keep collaborating with stakeholders in the ELT management ecosystem to ensure regulations are aligned with real-world practice promoting #sustainability and #circularity of the tyre & #rubber industry in Europe.
