  • The EU AI Act for businesses has now come into force. What does this mean for businesses using AI? Our Partner, Jeanne Kelly, shares her insights below: "The European Union (EU) AI Act sets out a regulatory framework for the use of AI across the EU and impacting entities outside the EU that affect EU citizens. The new legislation includes critical transition periods, including AI literacy requirements and prohibitions on certain AI systems. AI regulatory demands facing businesses via the EU AI Act are also contained in the European Data Protection Board’s (separate) guidelines for the integration and deployment of AI technologies under data protection laws. There is a critical need for strong data protection mechanisms, especially as businesses transition from experimenting with AI to deploying these systems across their entire operations. With AI agents becoming more common and generating vast amounts of data, the development of AI-driven data protection strategies that can properly manage and safeguard this information will be key area for innovation throughout 2025.” Jeanne Kelly, Founding Partner, Dublin. #AI #EUAIAct #Europe
