#ThrowbackThursday Just over 6 years ago, in September 2018, our High Sheriff's Fund was supported by Cambridge's historic Chariots of Fire race, raising £75,000. The relay race is one of the county’s most popular annual events, organised by HCR Hewitsons. Teams of six were sponsored by family, colleagues and friends to run a 1.6-mile relay around the historic heart of #Cambridge. Nearly 1,800 runners enjoyed the beautiful route while raising money for the High Sheriff’s Fund. Andy Harter CBE DL was the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire at the time. It was his first ever running race, captaining the 'High Sheriff's Posse' team. The funds raised thanks to the event funded local charity and community projects supporting young people in our county. Good luck to all runners taking part in the race this weekend!

Camtrust recently received a grant from the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority Learning & Skills Fund to deliver digital skills training for their clients who have additional needs and disabilities. This includes digital design, which one of the clients has already put into practice with a photo edit 📸
We absolutely love, and just had to share, this brilliant photo taken and edited by one of our talented clients - on the digital skills programme 🤩 This impressive artwork has been given the title … "Guess who it is!" Thanks to Cambridgeshire Community Foundation Learning & Skills Fund, in partnership with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, for making this amazing pilot project possible.

🌿 My Tai Chi Journey & Community Wellbeing Impact 🌿 #TaiChiInstructor #TaiChiForWellbeing #CommunityHealth #LookingforVenue My passion for Tai Chi emerged during the Covid lockdown. After the tragic Atlanta shooting in 2021, many in our Chinese community were left shaken and anxious. We initially turned to yoga for its calming benefits, but not everyone could fully engage due to flexibility challenges. That's when we discovered Tai Chi and Qigong — an exercise accessible to all ages and abilities, with no equipment or prior experience required. The gentle, flowing movements and deep breathing offer relaxation for both body and mind. Once you learn the basics, the benefits last a lifetime — promoting a healthier, happier life. During lockdown, I was honoured to participate in the virtual International Baduanjin competition and connected with world-renowned Masters Faye Li-Yip (Faye Tai Chi Friends) and Tary Yip - Tai Chi, Qigong Master. With their support, we offered a 12-week online Tai Chi course to over 1000 live participants, with 8000+ views on the recorded lessons, putting Peterborough on the map globally. Post-lockdown, we took our lessons offline — expanding into community centres, GP surgeries, cathedrals, and beyond. With over 200 people providing testimonials filling 40 A4 pages, the feedback has been phenomenal. From those recovering from cancer, arthritis, or COPD, to individuals on mental health or weight-loss journeys, Tai Chi has had a transformative impact. In fact, two people reported improved posture, even saying they "grew taller." Thanks to funding from The Evelyn Trust, two of us have trained as Tai Chi instructors. We're now available for demonstrations, wellbeing events, or corporate sessions aimed at improving employee health and reducing absenteeism, in exchange of a contribution to our charity. It’s a win-win: your team benefits, and our charity can continue offering free Tai Chi lessons to our community. 💪 #VenueCrisis Your help needed!- We're also seeking larger venues to accommodate growing demand — if you know of any available spaces (free or discounted), please reach out! Together, we can enhance community health and wellbeing. 🌟 ❤️Thank you our funders previously and currently for your continuous support, we are forever grateful- Cambridgeshire Community Foundation; The Evelyn Trust; Peterborough CVS (Peterborough Council for Voluntary Service) Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) Rosa, the UK Fund for Women and Girls; Smallwood Trust; Women's Resource Centre; Peterborough City Council; #BigLottery Marco Cereste; The Lettings Hub; Allia Future Business Centre Peterborough

Read Easy Fenland support adults who wish to learn to read or develop their reading skills 📖 Affiliated to Read Easy UK, their vision is for all adults in the UK to have the literacy skills necessary to fulfil their potential and live life to the full, regardless of their background. Read Easy Fenland offer 1-to-1 sessions for learners in four key hubs: Ramsey, Wisbech, Chatteris and March. In the last few years, we have supported Read Easy Fenland with funding towards training new volunteer coaches and holding walk-in sessions and other events to publicise the programme. During our recent visit, we met a learner who started off unable to read and, thanks to Read Easy Fenland's support, he has now been able to enrol on a course at a local college.
