Cambridge's largest and most active finance society, CAMSIF is an inclusive community of hands-on learning without risk.
About us
The Cambridge Student Investment Fund (CamSIF) is Cambridge University’s most active, entirely student-led finance society. In the last few years, CamSIF has demonstrated dedication to fostering talent and providing transformative opportunities through sustainable growth in scale and scope. CAMSIF’s purpose is to provide eager students with a unique opportunity to gain experience in investment and markets within a risk-free environment. So, no prior knowledge is required, and students of any degree course are welcome. With access to The Riley Auditorium of Clare College (capacity of approximately 500 people), we utilise the physical space to provide students with a unique hands-on opportunity to learn from accomplished analysts in-person. The Fund only opened to the wider Cambridge Community (previously only Clare College) in September 2021, and the membership quickly grew. Our members have proceeded to firms from Goldman Sachs and Citadel to Bridgewater. The Committee at CamSIF are excited to announce that, as of summer 2024, CamSIF has merged with CUFIS to form what will be the largest finance society in Cambridge! 🎉 Through this merger, CamSIF will lead the internal oversight of the APEX fund, handling all operations that dictate the formation of our portfolio, whilst CUFIS will steer external operations by delivering large-scale events. Ultimately, CAMSIF x CUFIS will emerge from our partnership efforts as the largest, most inclusive, and most active finance society in Cambridge! We look forward to what this exciting merger will bring to the future of finance societies in Cambridge 🙌

The new executive committee at CamSIF is excited to have established a partnership with Quartr for the upcoming year! Access to the Quartr Pro tool will help facilitate our education, market research, and fund management, whilst preparing all CamSIF members for their experiences in the financial industry. We look forward to what will be a great year ahead!
🗞️ As part of its expanding student program, Quartr has partnered with the Cambridge Student Investment Fund (CAMSIF), a student-run investing society at Cambridge University. The organization conducts stock research, networking events and manages a fund. This partnership will provide CamSIF's approximately 600 members with full access to Quartr Pro, a research platform used by leading hedge funds, asset managers, equity research departments and investor relations professionals worldwide. By partnering with Quartr, future finance professionals in the organization will gain experience with one of the market's most advanced tools for qualitative public market research, integrating it into their education, research work and fund management. "The entire team at CamSIF is incredibly excited about this partnership and the growth it will drive. Access to such an advanced tool in market research will undoubtedly aid our analysts and portfolio managers in formulating a successful portfolio. This, alongside the familiarization with broader market activity that Quartr is able to provide, means this partnership is one contributing meaningfully to the future of the financial industry." - Nikola Milojkovic, president of CamSIF #news #financialeducation #investing #markets https://lnkd.in/gAHmnTUk

With the conclusion of the Portfolio Management Competition, we have collected all the required data and are proud to announce the sector teams who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the year: 1st Place: Energy 2nd Place: Emerging Markets 3rd Place: Technology We would like to congratulate and thank all teams for their participation in the competitions first edition and we hope the society can continue to build on this in future years! The top placed teams have been determined by the teams who generated the highest excess returns above their corresponding MSCI index. We chose to measure performance through an excess return method as despite teams being able to execute long and short positions, there is varying volatility between sectors which highly affects each teams opportunity to generate returns. Considering this, excess returns against each sector’s benchmark was deemed the most the appropriate method to provide a fair assessment of portfolio performance. Please see below the indexes used to measure each sector’s performance: Energy: - SPDR®️ MSCI World Energy UCITS ETF - (LSE: ENGW) Consumer Retail: Weighted average between: - SPDR®️ MSCI World Consumer Discretionary UCITS ETF USD Acc (LSE: WCOD) - SPDR®️ MSCI World Consumer Staples UCITS ETF (LSE: WCOS) Healthcare: - SPDR®️ MSCI World Health Care UCITS ETF (LSE: HEAW) Technology: - SPDR®️ MSCI World Technology UCITS ETF USD Acc (LSE:WTEC) Emerging Markets: - SPDR®️ MSCI Emerging Markets UCITS ETF (LSE: EMRD) Industrials: - SPDR®️ MSCI World Industrials UCITS ETF USD Acc (LSE: WNDU) Special Situations: - SPDR®️ MSCI World UCITS ETF (LSE: SWRD)

Recently, I celebrated a milestone event for Cambridge Student Investment Fund (CAMSIF) with our first-ever President's Drinks. I was incredibly fortunate to host hundreds of students from universities across the UK, as well as 30 senior speakers - each a leader in their own field. My gratitude extends profoundly to my committee members, whose vision, dedication, and hard work helped me to bring this event to life. Organizing such a successful gathering is no small feat, especially considering it was our first attempt. The credits go to Eidyn Pottinga and Vadim Rikunov for their smooth running of logistics; Aishi Basu and Elena Zheng for inviting our exceptional and diverse guests; Damsith Wimalasena and Angela Chen for supporting the overall operations. I'm also thankful for the immense support from William Yu, Nikola Milojkovic, and Shen Lin, from setting the vision with me to executing every step. Your commitment and passion do not go unnoticed. Thank you for making this happen. A special word of thanks also to our keynote speakers Clara Reyero Carmona, Siddhi Mittal, Dr Zahid Moneer, PhD, MPhil, MBA (Cantab), Dima Shvets, and Stephen Paine.
