CAN Geotechnical (www.can.ltd.uk) are proud of the key role they are playing in the remediation work for the Road of Remembrance in Folkestone. 🌍 Due to significant landslides earlier this year, Kent County Council has extended the closure of this vital road until August 2025 to allow for extensive ground investigations and installation of any safety measures. The CAN Geotechnical www.can.ltd.uk/ team, led by Project Manager Andy Pope, are working diligently to stabilise the areas of concern, and provide the local community with the protection it deserves. CBU 22/23 coming on nicely now, talus is out and ground is reprofiled on the lower slopes, drilling in zone 4 and 5 is nearly complete and CBU 23 has about 180 nails remaining. CAN Structures was contracted to access and undertake a survey of the iconic Megatron Culvert in Sheffield. Utilising industrial rope access techniques and an inflatable dinghy, CAN operatives traversed the 70-metre-long culvert and retrieved core samples to be examined and tested. Additionally, covermeter tests and endoscope surveys were conducted throughout the culvert. CAN Structures operatives also provided a 6-man high risk confined space rescue team to supervise and support third party inspectors.
