RSK Geophysics and Safeground graduate Alexander has been helping undertake service avoidance for a site investigation by RSK Geosciences. Due to the recent weather conditions, Alexander has to regularly clean the mud and vegetation from the GPR so it still collects data effectively. The ground conditions during winter can be a problem for collecting Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) data, the sticky mud can clog up the GPR odometer and wheels and potentially damage the equipment. A number of RSK Group companies have been involved in the A59 rerouting scheme. RSK Biocensus, RSK Environment and Frog Environmental UK & Europe worked to ensure the moors and wildlife were prioritised in this rerouting scheme. RSK Environment Associate Director Georgina King said: “The construction site for the new road goes through protected areas of countryside that is home to barn owls; ground-nesting birds, such as lapwing, oystercatcher and curlew; otters; slow worms; pipistrelle bats; and notable fish species, including brown trout and brook lamprey. "These species and the surrounding habitat need to be protected through the course of the works and beyond. Ensuring that happens involves preparing assessments before the work has begun and to manage any potential environmental risk as work progresses to different stages of construction.” To find out more about the project and the important role these RSK Group businesses played, read the full article on our website. ➡️https://buff.ly/42KkkN3
