Revisiting a Transformation We recently revisited The Matthew Project's 'Next Steps' rehabilitation centre in Norwich, 5 ½ years after completing architectural services. It was inspiring to see the positive impact the space has had, and we were warmly welcomed back, with the original before-and-after photos still proudly displayed near the entrance! The facility, designed within a repurposed light-industrial unit, serves as a safe community space for individuals in recovery. Our design aimed to meet the project’s fast-track requirements while creating a warm and engaging environment. The hub includes a kitchen, library, café, counselling rooms, and a mezzanine for social spaces, as well as studio spaces for creative learning, designed with acoustic resilience for a multifunctional room used for music, dance, and yoga. Cannon Clarke Architects were committed to delivering a “Recovery Hub” that fosters self-esteem, confidence, and community support through creative and vocational activities. It's fantastic to see the space thriving and to know it continues to provide a nurturing environment. #Architecture #SocialImpact #Community #Rehabilitation #MatthewProject

Yesterday, one of our team members, Jonathan Mawer RIBA, visited Norwich School with Oliver Matthews from Clancy Consulting where they led an engaging career talk aimed to inspire the next generation of architects and engineers. Addressing the skills gap in the construction industry and encouraging young people to consider careers in architecture and engineering, Jonathan and Oliver provided valuable insights into the various pathways, including traditional university routes and apprenticeships, offering a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities within both professions. Jonathan and Oliver shared their personal journeys, the unique differences between the roles of architects, structural engineers, and civil engineers, and how they collaborate on exciting projects across the UK. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with students and highlight the rewarding and creative opportunities available in the industry. #architecturecareers #engineeringcareers #architecturaleducation #careertalk #stem

Our Water Moor Lane project in Fakenham, originally planned for 6 homes, has been transformed into 7 distinctive, high-quality, sustainable dwellings—maximising the site’s potential while fostering a sense of community. Despite the challenges posed by nutrient neutrality regulations, we remain committed to delivering architecture that balances environmental responsibility, investment returns, and thoughtful place-making. How are you navigating planning challenges and creating better outcomes? Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Jo Wrigley from Muraspec, the UK's leading manufacturer and global distributor of wall coverings, for an engaging CPD session at Cannon Clarke Architects. Jo shared valuable insights into the latest trends in wall coverings and led a hands-on discussion where we explored a beautiful array of samples, from brick textures to glittery finishes. An interesting aspect we learned was that their glittery materials are most commonly used for coffins! With a diverse selection, each of us had the chance to select our ideal coffin wall covering. Thank you, Jo for a great CPD session and for providing us with a great lunch from Coco di Mama. #CPD #Architecture #InteriorDesign #Norfolk
