  • When it comes to our team, they're like family, and we like to do whatever we can to support them. That’s why we’re so happy to have made a £315 donation to support one of our team member’s sons' football team. This contribution covered the cost of custom-made coats, ensuring the team stays warm and comfortable as they head into the new season. We can’t wait to cheer them on! The Under 8’s team is incredibly grateful for the donation, and it will help them feel prepared and excited for the season ahead. #CaraConstruction #TeamSupport #LocalCommunity #FootballFamily #Under8s #CommunityFirst #GivingBack

We love a Friday good news story, and this week is no different ☺ We’re pleased to announce that Cara Brickwork is involved in an exciting project to tackle homelessness in Greater Manchester. Embassy has appointed Vermont Construction and Cara Brickwork will support the scheme to provide a community of up to 40 high-quality homes for homeless residents in the city. ‘Embassy Village MCR’ will have a town hall, a green space for sports and socialising, and an outdoor area for gardening. Cara’s role will be to build the blockwork for all the units. Sid Williams, Director of Embassy, said, “The village will help us re-imagine the way homelessness is tackled in the city, providing a long-term and sustainable solution. We’re creating a supportive community where we help our residents with work and getting used to managing a home. This means we’ll be able to help four times as many people as we currently do.” Cara Managing Director Neil Allen met with Sid and discussed working closely with Embassy to provide additional support to some of their residents. This would be in the form of wrap-around care and providing employment and further training to upskill people and help make them work-ready. We have already secured a position for one of the males residing with Embassy. The ambition is that Cara will go on to support more of the men throughout 2025. Cara Group has a large social impact in Manchester. As part of this, a team took part in ‘Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity bus pull’ in 2024, where they raised £500 for homelessness initiatives across the city region. #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire

Well done to our Apprentice, Connor Marsh, who has been awarded the prestigious Stu Crompton trowel at Wigan & Leigh College and University Centre👏 Connor was presented with the Stu Crompton trowel by his tutors, Rob Brookfield and Peter James Carmichael. Connor is pictured with his tutors and the Keyfix team when they came in for a demonstration. Connor joined Wigan and Leigh in 2016 as a full-time learner, gaining valuable employability skills and completing his Level One and Level Two diplomas in bricklaying. Despite setbacks with a previous employer and having to switch careers temporarily, Connor remained keen on a career in bricklaying. He came for an interview with Neil Allen, Nick Mather and Jayne Greaves, and his passion for bricklaying came through, so we took him on to complete his apprenticeship with Cara Brickwork. Connor got the right mentoring from the Cara Brickwork team and has shone ever since. Connor is nearing the end of his apprenticeship at Wigan and Leigh College, where he has continued to improve despite all the challenges he has faced. Well done, Connor, keep up the great work 👏 #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire

🤝 Making a difference - our partnership with HMP Thorn Cross 🤝 Cara Brickwork has collaborated with Novus - Foundations for Change for the last two years, supporting men from HMP Thorn Cross as they completed our brickwork provision and moved into employment, ready to build a new future. Our Managing Director, Neil Allen, has visited HMP Thorn Cross several times to advise inmates and offer them roles within Cara Brickwork. Neil also helped to get The ABC Assessment Centre Ltd involved to start delivering MMC brickwork courses within the prison walls. This journey has already led to two success stories, with former inmates becoming valued members of our team. One of our team members has even brought his son into the business. Neil Allen said, “These are skilled people looking for a second chance. After visiting the prison, seeing their brickwork facilities, and speaking with some prisoners, it was clear that they just wanted an opportunity to get out of prison, keep on the straight and narrow, and not go back to a life of crime. “It took a while to get through the ROTL procedure, but it was worth it when we see what we got out of it. The ex-prisoner has now completed his time and is out of prison, and we’re pleased to employ him and his son. “I know that I have had scrapes with the law and could have easily ended up in prison and lost everything. The guys in there are just normal people wanting a second chance.” Nadine Parry, Regional Employer Account Manager, adds, “We have had one successful ROTL placement being offered full-time employment upon release last year. John Mumberson from Cara visited Thorn Cross in December 2024 and interviewed a learner due for release that week. Following the interview, he was offered full-time employment with Cara Brickwork. “The support from Neil and the team when addressing reducing reoffending plays a key role within the community. They are a fantastic open-minded company willing to give prison leavers a chance to change for the better.” #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire

Cara Group is pleased to announce that it will have Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) as its charity partner for 2025 and beyond. This partnership has a special significance for Cara Brickwork’s Managing Director, Neil Allen, after he tragically lost his daughter Olivia, known as Liv, to sudden cardiac death last June, aged just 19. Liv was a healthy young woman who was incredibly happy and thriving studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nottingham where she embraced independent and academic life, a true testament to her love for animals and her commitment to making the world a better place. Tragically, her bright and healthy future was cut short by an unexpected cardiac arrest. Neil, who is no stranger to raising money for charities, has now embarked on raising awareness and money for CRY so that he can arrange screenings for the youngsters local to him and beyond. He has already raised a staggering £20,000 with the help of Cara Group, which donated £4050 as part of their annual Christmas donation. Neil and Cara are not stopping there. Together, we’re planning a range of staff activities and sponsorship of events, including: ▫️Golf Day in the Northwest ▫️Dragon Boat race in London ▫️Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge ▫️Walk and Talk events ▫️London and Edinburgh marathons ▫️Race nights ▫️Family fun days Neil said, “The death of Olivia not just shocked the close family and friends but the wider community of the Construction world. The amount of support that we have received is unbelievable. Any young person is a tragedy, but the fact that far too many young, fit people die every week through the lack of proper screening programmes must be addressed. Through our partnership with friends, businesses and suppliers, we plan to raise enough funds to do regular “Test My Heart” screening events to hopefully reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death.” Neil and Joey Allen met with Debbie Dixon, a CRY representative whose son Aaron died 10 years ago and who is a massive campaigner for CRY. She has done 100 screenings and has referred over 350 young people to Cardiologists for further checks. Debbie came to the Head Office for a chat, gave advice on how to start the fundraising events, and chatted with Neil and his brother Joey. We want to thank all our Group Directors, John, Paddy Grady, Pat, and Joey, for getting behind Neil and helping raise money for this worthy cause 💙 Please visit Livs memorial page:- https://lnkd.in/e_riMaS4 #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire #Charity #CharityPartner
