  • With homelessness on the rise across the UK and in Greater Manchester, the demand on services is significant. Throughout winter, this pressure becomes even greater. And, with deaths to people experiencing street homelessness rising by 42% in the last year, this is a national emergency. More must be done to support people experiencing homelessness and those facing street homelessness. Help us support organisations that provide lifesaving spaces of safety, security and support. No one should have to experience homelessness. Please consider donating today. https://buff.ly/3uZMvs8

  • We could not do what we do without the support of the Renew Hub and SUEZ UK.   Their donation means the charity has an operational team actively working to support organisations on the frontline of the housing and homelessness crisis in Greater Manchester. We can put on more events, raise more money, and deliver a policy series that can shine a light on just what is needed to tackle homelessness and truly eradicate the need for rough sleeping. The funds they donate are transformative. Thank you for your support SUEZ. If you are a business or organisation working in Greater Manchester, consider supporting Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity. • Our grants are a lifeline to organisations on the frontline. A previous grant to Coffee4Craig helped them employ a Corporate Social Responsibility Manager. This role gives the organisation security and time to plan for their future. Thanks to this new role, Coffee4Craig can continue to provide vital support to people experiencing homelessness. Help us protect more vital organisations like this one. Please consider donating today: https://lnkd.in/dXi7P_aP

  • It has only been a week since the Big GREATer Manchester Pub Quiz took place across our city-region- and what an evening it was! Pubs across Greater Manchester hosted our ‘manc’ themed pub quiz, and saw teams compete to win some pretty exciting prizes. This was all to raise funds for the pioneering scheme, A Bed Every Night. The event offered participants the perfect way to mark World Homeless Day, 10th October. Take a look at all the fun that was had 👀… and not to mention, the thousands raised. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped to make the event the success it was. As you may know already, we are no stranger to an unusual fundraiser here at Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity. So, if you’ve got an idea for a fundraiser, we’d love to hear about it! Get in touch today.

  • We have signed the #Planforthe136k’s open letter urging Chancellor Rachel Reeves to end the benefit trap that homeless young people face when entering work. By joining over 140 youth, homelessness and housing association organisations, we’re making it clear: a policy shift to Make Work Pay in the October Budget is crucial for empowering homeless young people to secure meaningful employment and help reach their full potential.  Read more on this from the Big Issue, including words from our CEO, Fran Darlington-Pollock. This benefits 'trap' is forcing homeless young people out of work (bigissue.com)
