Two more Syria Programme studies accepted for publication! ‘The lion statue of Ain Dara: Revealing the fate of the icon of Syrian antiquities looted during the war’ authored by Ammar Kannawi and Dareen Ghali will be published in International Journal of Cultural Property, and the ‘Identifying challenges facing the integration of war-disabled people in northwest Syria’, led by Dr Fateh Shaban Ph.D. SFHEA will be published in Disability and the Global South Journal. Considerable thanks is due to their mentors Prof Salam Al Kuntar/Rugters, Dr Neil Brodie/Oxford and Dr Miro Griffiths/Leeds and Prof Roger Slee/Leeds for their support.

A busy time for Syria Programme-supported study teams, with two new papers published! ‘Improving some productivity indicators and suitable for machine harvesting of some sesame varieties by mutation method’ published in the Journal Crop Breeding Genetics and Genomics. 🚨 A date for your diaries!   Sultan Jalabi’s study ‘Invisible Battlegrounds: The Transformation and Persistence of Informal Settlements in Syria during Chronic Crises’ co-authored by Layla Z., has been accepted for presentation at the forthcoming Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) Institute of British Geographers (RGS-IBG) Annual International Conference 2024, to be held in London at the Society and Imperial College London, and online, from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30 August 2024. He attendance is supported by the Cara Syria Programme and a full RGS-IBG conference fee waiver. He will be presenting on Friday 30th August 2024. A second conference fee waiver has also been granted to Syria Programme Fellow, Dr Fateh Shaban Ph.D. SFHEA, for whom the conference will provide an important networking opportunity.
