Helps young people to build the skills and experiences they need to lead successful futures.

About us

The Careers Hub East helps young people to build the skills and experiences they need to lead successful futures. It does this by connecting businesses with schools and colleges. This ensures that young people are aware of all the career pathways and opportunities available to them. In June 2018, the Mayor of London announced the expansion of the London Enterprise Adviser Network to support state secondary schools, Pupil Referral Units and Further Education Colleges in every London borough. London is one of the world's leading economic centres, while also being a hotbed for innovation, creativity and design. This means there are tens of thousands of exciting job opportunities for young Londoners. The expanded London Enterprise Adviser Network will connect even more schools with London’s employers. This will help to ensure that all young Londoners can build the networks they need to lead successful and fulfilling lives. A huge thank you to Mackyla Palmer-logue and the team at RICS London for hosting Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College Year 10 students for an insightful day exploring the world of #surveying! The day kicked off with an inspiring talk by Laura Hennessy, who shared her fascinating and varied career journey to becoming a Chartered Surveyor. With humour and considered perspective and insight, she gave students a real sense of the profession’s opportunities and challenges. Students also had the unique opportunity to visit the RICS Library, where they explored a range of learning tools that have supported surveyors worldwide through history. The afternoon was packed with two engaging challenges: A quick-fire task to redesign a high street in 10 minutes, identifying the different types of surveyors involved. A more detailed, sustainability-focused redevelopment project, where students planned key features and discussed the time, cost, and surveyors required for a large-scale development. Thank you again to RICS for making this such an enriching experience. Students really got to understand a #dayinthelife of a surveyor and we look forward to more collaborations in the future! #Surveying #CareersInspiration #RICS #CareersEducation #Havering #hornchurch

Enterprise Coordinator with Local London, Facilitating Employer Engagement with Schools, Colleges, PRU and SEND

Fancy stretching your professional skills in ways easy to build into your schedule, through a variety of ways that have huge impact on others? Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gjkf7mfA Or reach out to me to help schools across Havering, or our East London Careers Hub: Careers Hub East #volunteer #enterpriseadviser #giveback #payitforward #socialmobility #careers #locallondon

💭 Have you often thought about giving up your time to help others? ⏰ But perhaps you struggle to make the time for "traditional volunteering"? 💥 Or want to find an opportunity where you can feel and/or see the impact? Perhaps signing up as an Enterprise Advisor could be the role for you. I'm in my fifth year as an Enterprise Advisor for Havering, providing dedicated support to a local girls school and adhoc support for schools in Redbridge too (all while working full time I might add!) - and here's what I love about it: * The time commitment isn't a lot at all - we meet once a term (that's 3 times a year) with the school and may have a few email exchanges over the term for specific activities the careers leader has planned, and perhaps a few offline hours to feedback on existing activities and share ideas * The regular meetings are virtual - but in-person meetings can be scheduled if/when it is suitable to do so. However, there is never an obligation to meet with the schools in person as it's recognised that volunteers are fitting this around their work schedule and other commitments so virtual is often easiest. * If you have volunteering leave, which I do at the Money and Pensions Service this is a manageable way to use it, using 1 or 2 hours to meet with your school or a half or full day for careers activities you could be supporting. * Due to the flexibility and nature of the role I can make it work around being a working mum (an absolute essential for me!). When I went on maternity leave I was genuinely worried about how it would work in practice when I went back to work and had to manage childcare too but it has been completely manageable, even around full time compressed hours. * And lastly, and more importantly (for me anyway) I know that the input I'm providing is really helping shape the careers education and ultimately helping young people making informed choices about their lives. Want to know more? Happy to have an informal chat with you or the lovely Sarah-Jane Goode, Enterprise Coordinator for Havering, can tell you more if you're either living in or working in the borough of Havering. #volunteering #EnterpriseAdvisor "#ShapingCareersEducation #Careers #InspireTheNextGeneration

(Attempted) Monday Morning Motivation! I am a big fan of the work of The Careers & Enterprise Company and was keen to get involved, so I have become a Careers & Enterprise Company Enterprise Adviser for Careers Hub East 🎉 This post tells you how you can become an Enterprise Adviser too! The diverse network of 4,000 Enterprise Advisers volunteers across the country come from all industry sectors and professional backgrounds. Hub teams are located within local partner organisations. I am based in London, so the slides below (used with permission) refer to Local London and Careers Hub East. ❓ WHY? Why have I added this commitment to my plate? Because my focus is on young people. According to the UCAS Early Careers 'Project Next Generation' Report young people are mapping out their futures earlier than ever, but lack the guidance they need to make informed choices. ❓ WHAT? What exactly does an Enterprise Adviser do? 1️⃣ Raise the quality of careers provision: help improve progress against the Gatsby Benchmarks 2️⃣ Drive more high-quality experiences with employers: use your contacts and networks to encourage a wider group of employers to engage 3️⃣ Amplify apprenticeships, technical and vocational routes: help increase awareness 4️⃣ Develop the knowledge and skills of Careers Leaders and Education Leaders 5️⃣ Focus on interventions for economically disadvantaged young people 6️⃣ Help align careers provision to local economic needs ❓ HOW? How do you become an Enterprise Adviser you ask? STEP 1: register your interest on the Careers & Enterprise Company website: https://lnkd.in/ep6pK8tF STEP 2: decide which borough you want to work in and wait to hear if there are vacancies there. I asked if I could work in the boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Newham or Waltham Forest. (None of these three boroughs are classified as 'favourable' in the 2024 Social Mobility Commission State of the Nation Report for promising prospects, conditions of childhood, labour market opportunities for young people or innovation/growth). STEP 3: receive brilliant one-to-one training and an induction session. I am very lucky that my Enterprise Co-ordinator is Rosie H, and I loved that in my induction session one of the slides was dedicated to social mobility. STEP 4: meet other Enterprise Advisers and become part of a network. My post last month shares my first Enterprise Adviser Breakfast Meeting: https://lnkd.in/e_huKjYV STEP 5: get going in the school you are matched with! Photo shows me standing outside the school in Waltham Forest, East London with which I have been matched. TO CONCLUDE! If just one person registers their interest because of this post, I will be happy. Can I have a ⭐ please CEC friends?! #CareersEducation

Today, Year 9 students from Willowfield School had the incredible opportunity to learn about coffee making directly from industry professionals. They were treated to a live coffee-making demonstration, showcasing the skills and creativity involved in crafting the perfect brew. ☕️ To top it all off, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch along with hot chocolates and coffees, making this experience not only educational but also delightful! A huge thank you to Daksha Stancilas and Jade at Pret A Manger for hosting us and providing such valuable insights into the world of sustainable food to go, and inspiring the learners to apply for their Apprenticeship Level 2, which can be done as early as 16. Exciting news! 🌟 Along with local Independent Training Providers (ITPs), Further Education (FE) colleges, and Higher Education (HE) institutions, we have created the Future Skills Partnership working group. Together, we will work towards increasing Benchmark 7 for all schools within Local London , ensuring that every student hears the message about Apprenticeships and Vocational Pathways available to them. Thank you to the amazing institutions already on board to support this mission: Greenwich University, The STC Group, First Rung Ltd, New City College, Waltham Forest College, Capel Manor College, Newham College of Further Education, Davies Talent Solutions, JTL. Stay tuned for updates on our initiatives. #apprenticeships #tlevels #btec #vocationalpathways #careerseducation Tracy Eve Ndidi Edozie-Ansah Tricia Campbell
