Local charity supporting unpaid carers in Wiltshire
About us
Carer Support Wiltshire is a local charity supporting unpaidcarers in Wiltshire. A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a family member or friend who could not always manage without their support. They might look after someone with a physical disability, long term health condition, mental health issue or a problem with substance misuse. We help carers to access support, services, information, education and training, and breaks from their caring role. We ensure carers in Wiltshire have a voice in policy making and planning for services, and we work with health and social care professionals and employers to develop best practice. Our aim is to create carer friendly communities where carers are recognised, valued and supported.

🌟 This week, unpaid carer Rosario is diving deep into the important topic of mental health myth-busting! 🧠 We've all encountered the damaging portrayals of mental ill health in movies, TV shows, and various media outlets, often depicting those who struggle as caricatures or villains. The truth is that individuals experiencing mental health challenges are just like you and me. 💙 These harmful misconceptions can have a profound impact, often leading to feelings of isolation, shame, and a reluctance to seek help. Many people might distance themselves from loved ones or hesitate to reach out for support, fearing judgment or misunderstanding. This cycle can be incredibly hurtful and damaging - but there is a way forward: education! 💪 By sharing knowledge and having conversations around mental health, we can dismantle these myths and create a more compassionate society. Click here to uncover the truth about common mental health myths and discover the vital conversations we need to start having 👇 https://lnkd.in/e4RmWa3Q #MentalHealthAwareness #EndTheStigma #SupportEachOther

Very many of us in our lives will either need the care and support of a loved one or will be the one providing the care and support for a loved one (or perhaps both). Carer Support Wiltshire and Dorset helps people on their caring journey and sometimes people help Carer Support Wiltshire and Dorset through volunteering their time and skills. One way of volunteering, particularly for people who have lived experience of caring or being cared for, is by being a Trustee. If that is something that appeals to you, please do give some thought to joining us on our Board as we seek to ensure that the positive reach and impact that we have as Carer Support Wiltshire and Dorset can grow and thrive in the future.
