Castrol’s space-grade lubricants have been used on the International Space Centre (ISS) for over 20 years. They are engineered to perform in the most extreme conditions for extended periods of time. Aboard the ISS, NASA astronauts witness a staggering 16 sunrise and sunsets every day as it orbits the Earth at 28,000 kilometers per hour. ISS's ‘window to the world’ offers a unique perspective of our planet. We think it's truly magnificent! 🌎🛰️ Comment 🤩 if you agree. #Castronomy #WorldSpaceWeek #ISS

Each planet in our solar system has a different gravity, and the strength of gravity depends on two factors: 💫 mass of the planet 💫 distance from the centre of the planet So how do the other planets in our solar system compare to Earth? With about 38% of Earth's gravity, on Mercury you'd weigh less than half of your current weight. Whereas, Jupiter's massive size gives it a powerful gravity, about 2.5 times that of Earth, making you feel significantly heavier. Each planet's unique gravity creates a distinct environment, contributing to the fascinating diversity of our solar system. We recently challenged YouTuber Airrack to complete the world’s first zero-gravity bottle flip. We’ve supported work in space for seven decades, supplying lubricants for some of the most extreme and harshest environments imaginable. The entry, descent and landing phase of a Mars mission is often referred to as "7 minutes of terror" because during the descent, the spacecraft must slow down from around 13,000 mph to a complete stop in just 7 minutes! This high-stakes process involves complex maneuvers and zero room for error, making it one of the most nerve-wracking moments in space exploration. Listen to our latest Castrol on Mars episode aptly named "7 Minutes of Terror" as Professor Briony Horgan and Dame Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock venture to the dusty surface of the mighty Red Planet to talk about the groundbreaking rover missions to Mars. The Canadarm’s design was revolutionary for NASA’s space exploration. The series of robotic arms have rotating joints at the shoulder, elbow and wrist. They have the ability to lift over 30,000 kg, or just over 33 tonnes (266,000 kg in microgravity) using less electricity than a kettle! We are proud that our mission-critical, space-grade lubricants have been lubricating the Canadarm for over 40 years 🇨🇦🦾 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ekFf_HCN #Castronomy #Canadarm #Robotics
