I help scale-up & high growth companies and their people to thrive through purposeful, strategic communications strategies.

How do you involve employees in employee engagement efforts? I've been reflecting on the really interesting chat I had with Victoria Black MIIC last week, about how Travel Chapter makes the most of employees' passions and shared interests to help create enviable employee engagement levels. No matter what the culture of your organisation, tapping into what your people are naturally interested in, and encouraging them to bring that passion to work is almost always a win-win. It allows people to build connections, fosters a sense of belonging, and ultimately, it will help get things done! Does your organisation encourage people to share their passion at work? #employeeengagement #internalcomms #passionatwork Photo by Ian Schneider on Unsplash

I really enjoyed my day at #engagesummit by Engage Employee. I heard some inspirational speakers and wonderful stories of the impact of internal comms and employees engagement, plus met some lovely people! (👋 hello to my new connections 😊) My key take aways? I’m so glad you asked: 👂no surprises here, but listening really is absolutely fundamental to successful employee engagement (and internal comms). Listen to your employees, take time to understand them, make the most of their creativity and passion, and then act on it! Employee shadowing came up several times as a valuable, but often overlooked, tool. ⛑️an environment of psychological safety is a must-have to truly be able to tap into the employee voice. 📊 measurement and data are the keys to investment and impact. Build in measurement from the start and follow the data to engage senior stakeholders and shape your approach. 👥put people front and centre. When people feel valued and know that they come first for leaders and managers, engagement is much higher. 🤖AI is here to stay, helping IC teams in particular to extend capacity. But, it’s not a panacea, it’s a tool that needs careful and thoughtful application. 😇honesty, transparency, integrity - call it what you will - is the foundation of trust, and it’s trust that is at the heart of engagement. Say what you’ll do, do what you say, and explain why you are (or are not) doing it! 🧘Finally, from the indomitable Ruby Wax - remember we all have a Stone Age brain struggling to cope in a crazy modern world, so respect your mental health - and put on your own oxygen mask first! #employeeengagement #internalcommunications

This week a Gallup study found employee engagement hit an 11 year low in the US. Meanwhile, in 2023 Gallup found that 90% of UK employees are disengaged. Employee engagement has a significant impact on important measures like productivity and profitability - not to mention individuals' happiness and wellbeing. Clearly, something has to change! Starting with asking some basic questions. 💡 How engaged are your employees? 💡 What are the biggest barriers to engagement in your organisation? 💡 How does your internal communications help to build engagement? We can help you listen and identify issues, then work together to build a truly engaging internal communications landscape. Please get in touch, we'd love to have a coffee and chat about how we can help.

  • "A third of CEOs are still struggling to make their purpose an actionable asset that informs their decision-making and inspires their cultures." A corporate purpose can be an incredibly powerful tool. However, a purpose that is not embedded and actionable is, arguably, actively detrimental to an organisation. Leaders should ask themselves: ❓ Is your purpose embedded in your company culture or is it "words on a wall"? ❓ Does your purpose actively guide strategic decision making? ❓ Are your employees engaged with and motivated by your purpose? ❓ How could a clear, actionable purpose drive success for your organisation? If you're not sure about the answers to these questions, it's important to take time to reflect. We'd love to have a coffee and about what purpose means to you and your organisation. https://lnkd.in/dFj5ewNP #corporatepurpose #employeeengagement #corporatecommunications

Change in the tech sector is a constant. But how can employers ensure that employees are not just keeping up but actually buying into the transformation? ✔️ Listen: understand their concerns and ideas. Employees who feel heard and valued contribute more, and have more trust in leadership. 📈 Align: connect employees’ needs and aspirations to the company’s transformation goals. Creating a sense of shared purpose motivates employees. 📏 Track & Test: use data-led insights to inform internal communications, measure engagement, and continuously improve. #changemanagement #employeeengagement

According to HBR every leader needs to: "Shape a vision that is exciting and challenging for your team (or division/unit/organization). Translate that vision into a clear strategy about what actions to take, and what not to do." That second point can be harder to do than it looks. And, goes hand-in-hand with the need to communicate that vision and strategy effectively. We find coming in as an external perspective can be so helpful in shaping, not only the vision, but the new strategy and as well as ensuring that employees fully understand what it means for them. How have you communicated a new strategy to your employees? Are they clear on what that means for them? Are they motivated and engaged? #internalcommunications #corporatecomms #strategy #vision
