Dawn won a gold Banchory Bangle in last year’s Children 1st Deeside Committee’s annual raffle after a “good few years” of trying. Every year, engraver Malcolm Appleby painstakingly creates a stunning and unique Banchory Bangle to raise vital funds to protect Scotland’s children. Dawn described the bangle as “absolutely gorgeous” and said she has never owned anything like it in her life. “It’s just quite magical, actually,” she said. Here's fundraising superstars April, age 8 and Jessica age 9 at the top of Ben Nevis after climbing 4,411ft. This was the fourth Munro they conquered to fundraise a fantastic total of £1,240 towards our work to help protect children from harm and support them to recover from trauma. April said: “We wanted to raise money for Children 1st because they are there for children who need help all around Scotland. When we got to the top of Ben Nevis I felt exhausted and tired but really proud.” The two adventurers are now setting their sights on bagging all 282 Munros across Scotland. We would like to say a huge thank you to them both! You can read more about their adventures here: https://ow.ly/lwXI50TGwTw

We're delighted to announce Children 1st as our latest Employer with Heart 💜 The charity has committed to extending paid parental leave for staff whose babies are born prematurely. Jennifer Allan, Director of People and Culture at Children 1st said: “The early birth of a baby can be an extremely difficult and worrying time for new parents. Parents should not have to worry about their finances or going back to work while caring for a new baby born early. “Children 1st is extremely proud to have signed The Smallest Things ‘Employer With Heart’ charter which means parents will have more time to spend with their baby. “Signing this charter shows Children 1st’s commitment to staff wellbeing and supporting our colleagues in every way possible.” 💜 We know what a difference this will make to your staff who may experience the worry and trauma of neonatal care.
