Updates

  • With the wars in Ukraine and Gaza having a massive impact on world (in)security, the UK Defence sector has come under greater scrutiny recently, with an increase in defence spending muted amongst the powers that be, and across two governments. Our allies such as the USA, and those in Europe are looking for UK leadership within NATO and with our allies around the world. Now is a time for unity across the UK, as we are now at the most dangerous time in recent memory, with the potential of another world war. A threat we haven’t seen since the Cuban Missile Crisis bought us to the brink in October 1962. Some people have no interest in working in an industry, where we need a sovereign capability, to remain at the forefront of technology development, ahead of our potential adversaries. This is a frustrating situation, where some highly skilled people who can make a difference, would prefer to work in a industry such as automotive, or medical devises for example. All of which have merits, and are important, but we are in danger of leaving the UK vulnerable to an attack similar to Ukraine if we don’t have the systems to protect ourselves and our military, who put themselves in harms way to protect us. Below is a poll, where we would like to understand where your thoughts lie. Thank you for taking part.

Earlier this year I was advised that I had been nominated by SME News for their MD of the Year awards, and I was fortunate to receive an update to say that I had won Technical Engineering Recruitment MD of the Year 2024. Hopefully this means I am doing something right 😀 Thanks to the team for all their support as I wouldn't achieve anything without them!! #smenews #MD #cirrusselection

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) is transforming industries, and aerospace and defence are no exceptions. With the integration of IoT, these sectors can achieve unprecedented levels of efficiency, safety, and innovation. But how exactly can businesses in these fields benefit? Firstly, IoT enhances predictive maintenance. By equipping aircraft and defence equipment with IoT sensors, real-time data can be collected and analysed to predict potential failures before they occur. This not only reduces downtime but also significantly cuts maintenance costs. For instance, a study by Deloitte found that predictive maintenance can reduce maintenance costs by up to 20% and improve equipment uptime by 10-20%. Secondly, IoT improves operational efficiency. In aerospace, IoT can optimise flight paths, monitor fuel consumption, and manage air traffic more effectively. Defence operations can benefit from IoT through enhanced situational awareness, real-time monitoring of troop movements, and improved logistics management. The ability to gather and analyse vast amounts of data in real-time allows for more informed decision-making and streamlined operations. Lastly, IoT fosters innovation and development. With the constant influx of data, aerospace and defence companies can innovate faster, developing new technologies and improving existing ones. This data-driven approach can lead to advancements in autonomous systems, smart weaponry, and advanced communication networks. According to PwC, the global market for IoT in aerospace and defence is expected to reach £40 billion by 2025, highlighting the significant growth and investment in this area. How is your organisation leveraging IoT? Share your thoughts or get in touch to explore how we can help you stay ahead in this rapidly evolving landscape.
