CELEBRATING OUR MUSEUMS OF SANCTUARY We had a wonderful time at the Great North Museum: Hancock this afternoon celebrating our Museums of Sanctuary award. Sanctuary Awards are presented to organisations that go above and beyond to welcome people seeking sanctuary. And we're so proud that our nine museums and galleries have been recognised. Kindness, compassion and a warm welcome are more important now than ever before. We also took time to celebrate our incredible Multaka North East volunteers. Multaka (which means 'meeting point' in Arabic) is a museum volunteering programme for people with a migration background. The group has done amazing things. Like today - Arezoo gave a tour of the Ancient Egypt exhibition to 15 people in her first language, Farsi. Thank you to everyone who came along!
