We are proud to support the redevelopment of this historic building in Ovingdean, Brighton. The development of 64 beachfront apartments, is being undertaken by James Taylor Homes Group and the Housing Growth Partnership ("HGP"). The building has a fascinating history, originally constructed in the 1930's as the first purpose-built rehabilitation centre for vision-impaired ex-servicemen and women. Designed to resemble a plane from the air, so it was visible for RAF pilots flying overhead. The charity who most recently occupied the building wanted to move to a more modern facility with "more opportunity and independence". Emil Sohrab, CEO at JAMES TAYLOR HOMES GROUP LIMITED, comments: “These development opportunities do not come up very often, as soon as I saw the building I could see its incredible potential. This kind of building demands the very best in terms of restoration and we wanted to make sure that there were no delays once planning was secured, which is why we came to Close Brothers." Daniel Joyce, Deputy MD at Close Brothers Property Finance: “James Taylor Homes Group and the Housing Growth Partnership are the perfect partners to be entrusted to sensitively breathe new life into this iconic and historical building." #redevelopment #newhomes #propertyfinance Read the full story in the The Intermediary https://lnkd.in/ef_ZKPgm

🦺Last week our 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰’𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 network visited a development site in Barking with Steven Morris, MD of Linfield Construction. Steve is a valued and supportive member of the network, who kindly gave the group a tour of the development, where he is acting as main contractor.🦺 The scheme has a very interesting background, whereby the previous contractor fell into financial difficulties, so Linfield were able step in and complete remedial works and they are now taking the scheme forward to practical completion. 🧱 The project showcases the complexities associated with housebuilding, how things can go wrong and how important it is to understand that the cheapest price isn’t always the best option! Thank you to Steve for taking the time to share your experiences and to all the group members who attended and contributed to the fantastic afternoon, Alex Boggis and Oliver Boggis from Moon Tree Developments, Cameron Jeromson from LifeBase Investments, Karine Kirlew from Browne Jacobson, Luke Warren from Capital Projects, Michael Doyle from Balrath, Xuan Meng and Jevy Umali from CozyHaus, and Ed Marling from Laverbrook. #Tmrwdev #SupportingSMEs #NextGeneration

Recent estimates indicate that women make up just 15% of the workforce in the property and construction sector. Over the last 10 years female professional roles have increased by 53%, whereas women in skilled trades have declined by 18%, proving there is plenty of work to be done. From increasing representation in the board room, to building an inclusive workplace culture, change comes from committed leadership and bold actions. As a business we are working on this and here is what some of the senior women in our team believe needs to be done across the sector. If you would like to carry on the conversation and become part of our Women in Property network, please email lucy.johnston@closebrothers.com. #IWD2025 #GenderParity #DiversityInLeadership Annabelle Charman Jo Lavers Joanne Parr Chiara Caldwell

We are delighted to announce that Close Brothers Property Finance is the first industry partner to support the newly reformed All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for SME Housebuilders. The APPG will focus on key issues such as advocating for a more efficient, transparent, and SME-friendly planning system; finding ways to improve funding opportunities for SMEs; and ways to attract and retain skilled workers. Other key issues will include sustainability and innovation, as well as barriers to land access. The new Chair will be Sarah Edwards MP for Tamworth, the first woman to hold the position. We look forward to working closely with Sarah and the Group's members, going forwards. “Close Brothers Property Finance is a proud advocate for SMEs and supports the APPG’s efforts to drive positive change within the industry, levelling the playing field for SMEs.” Phil Hooper #APPG #SMEhousebuilders #Advocate https://lnkd.in/eaJ3nva4

𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐩. To mark the release of our 2024 SME State of Play report, we partnered with the Home Builders Federation and these SME home builders, to highlight the important challenges facing our industry and what needs to be done to help homebuilders to thrive. "The home building industry stands ready to work with government to find solutions to these challenges. Releasing homes blocked by nutrient neutrality restrictions, addressing constraints within the planning system, setting out a pipeline of land, and developing a new scheme to make homeownership a reality for more people." #StateOfPlay #SupportingSMEs #BuildingCommunities

🛒 Providing vital infrastructure within local communities 🏪 We’re proud to support our clients in bringing new commercial developments to life. Our Manchester team facilitated a loan for the conversion of a formerly derelict pub into a new commercial retail unit in Garswood, Ashton-in-Makerfield. The Tesco Express which has just opened its doors in the past week has created new jobs in the local community and will provide an essential service to residents in the area. #DevelopmentFinance #UrbanRegeneration #SupportingLocalCommunities #CommercialDevelopment
