It was a fast-paced and fun day yesterday with the students at Nottingham Trent University Physics. This week Swathi Pai and Ty Burridge-Oakland are working with the second year to build their entrepreneurial and inventive mindsets by generating product ideas that they shall convert over the next few months into investable and fundable business concepts. This year's module content has been designed by Cognitive Business and Nottingham Trent University Physics lecturer Edward Breeds. Congratulations to the Inaugural winners of our NTU Physics Alumni Award - Cognitive Business A huge congratulations to Cognitive Business who received the inaugural NTU Physics Alumni Award for outstanding achievements in their field, as well as their continued dedication to our wider teaching and learning community at NTU. The award recognizes substantial contributions by alumni as academic ambassadors and advocates within the local, national, and international physics community, as well as outstanding achievements in commercial sectors that reflect the ongoing values of NTU Physics and the wider University. For Cognitive Business these include sustainability, energy security, and artificial intelligence as a tool. The award also reflects the ongoing involvement that the company has had in supporting placement opportunities, in-curriculum teaching and learning experiences, and continued development of the courses. This prestigious award celebrates the role of our alumni network as a principal inspiration for future NTU graduates, positively impacting society and the environment. We were honoured to hear about the journeys of Christopher Fraser and Ty Burridge-Oakland at our latest alumni reunion event, at which the award was presented.

Mock Interviews and Assessment Centre Activity for a No-longer-so-nervous Year 2 Our second year cohort recently took part in their Enrichment Week activities - a week of events designed to support employability skills and application processes, exposing students to the not-so-scary world of interview and assessment.   Identifying the need to support our placement applicants and graduates in general, all second-year students are given the opportunity to apply for one of twelve mock positions. Students are invited to a mock two-person-panel interview, this year supported by Rolls Royce, AWE, Cognitive Business, BAE Systems, Employability, and NTU staff. Over 24 hours of time was offered to interview the cohort, who report that nerves turned to confidence post-interview! All students get personalised feedback about their interviews.   Students also took part in a two-part assessment centre day, supported by AWE, which generated feedback about their group working, leadership, and emotional intelligence. Powerful stuff!
