  • Leadership in policing isn’t only about rank – it’s a shared responsibility. Whether they’re the first on scene, coordinating responses, reassuring the public or shaping long-term strategies, officers, staff and volunteers embody leadership in their roles every day. The National Talent Development Strategy (NTDS) is here to create a consistent, inclusive approach to identifying and nurturing talent across policing. By focusing on representation, diversity, transparency, and leadership development, the NTDS will: 🔹 maximise potential for officers, staff, and volunteers 🔹 create pathways for diverse and inclusive leadership 🔹 strengthen succession planning for critical roles This strategy is a step forward in building a future-ready, high-performing workforce that can meet the evolving challenges of policing. • Eight years ago today, PC Keith Palmer made the ultimate sacrifice protecting others. On 22 March 2017, when faced with unimaginable danger, he stood his ground, showing extraordinary bravery in the line of duty. PC Palmer's courage will never be forgotten. In that moment, he put others before himself, demonstrating the deepest commitment to protecting the public. His legacy lives on, not just in policing, but in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Today, we remember Keith - not just as a police officer, but as a husband, a father, a friend. Our thoughts are with his family, his colleagues, and everyone who carries his memory.
