About us
Computers 4 Charity is the ‘Working Name’ of Digital Pipeline, and a registered charity. We were founded by Microsoft and personally supported by Bill Gates . Today, we have evolved into a leading technology charity, providing hundreds of thousands of PC's, laptops and tablets across the UK and developing countries. Our team has been refurbishing computers since 1996, for 25 years and our vision is to provide the best IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) solution possible with full Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) fulfilment. Our holistic approach to computer refurbishment is designed around providing a green IT sustainability service to benefit climate and our ethical donation cycle to benefit community. As a computer recycling charity we provide end to end PC, computer and laptop refurbishment and reuse from donor to beneficiary and give a whole new dimension to corporate and individual environmental and social responsibility. We dismantle, refurbish, rebuild and upgrade PCs doubling their working lives from 5 years to 10, and laptops from 3 to 6 years. Our beneficiaries include: children and young carers, hospices, unemployed veterans, charity volunteers and UK charities who support schools in Africa, to whom we donate laptops to at our events.

This month, our team had the pleasure of connecting with some truly inspiring people in Peterborough. From charity leaders to community volunteers, each dedicated to improving lives and offering support to those most in need. Peterborough, our newest IT appeal location, welcomed us warmly. This vibrant community is filled with organisations working tirelessly to uplift its people. Imagine a group of 8 local charities, each with a unique purpose: food banks ready to provide essentials, support groups for women seeking aid, organisations dedicated to young people grappling with mental health challenges, and shelters offering warmth to those facing homelessness. Each of these charities represents hope and kindness at the heart of Peterborough. During our visit, we had the honour of presenting these 8 charities with digital devices, each one a tool to help bridge the digital divide. For many, these devices offer a lifeline to resources, services, and connections that can transform lives. Our time in Peterborough wasn't just about giving; it was about listening. Hearing the stories of these charities and the people they support highlighted the urgent need for digital accessibility in this community and beyond. At the core of our mission is a commitment to promoting digital inclusion for all. Each device we provided represents a step closer toward this goal, enabling charities to reach and empower more individuals. Thank you Peterborough and until next time! #digitalinclusionforall #BridgingTheDigitalDivide #CaringForCommunity #peterborough

A big thanks to Computers 4 Charity for kindly donating a laptop to our outreach team! 👏 Computers 4 Charity is an amazing initiative, run by people who help to donate technology that would otherwise be scrapped to charities in need - supplying laptops and more to charities all over the UK. A superb idea and we're super grateful they chose us, as laptops help our outreach team hugely when dealing with applications and appointments for those we work with.

Little Miracles Charity provide holistic, inclusive support to empower families, reduce isolation, and enhance the quality of life of children with disabilities, additional needs or life-limiting conditions. Through tailored services such as emotional support, counselling, respite care, and educational advocacy, they ensure families have access to the help they need to create a supportive community where every child can thrive. By addressing unique needs that often go unmet elsewhere, they create a trusted, inclusive space where families feel understood, supported, and empowered. Most of their IT equipment was outdated with several staff members relying on older devices that are slow and struggle to run modern software. The donated devices will enable staff to efficiently organise activities for children with disabilities, streamline family support communications, and further enhance fundraising efforts. #digitalinclusionforall #BridgingTheDigitalDivide #computersforkids #TechForGood #peterborough

At our recent Peterborough Appeal we had the pleasure of meeting Stuart Bowell, Accommodation Manager YMCA Trinity Group in Peterborough. They provide temporary accommodation for those that are street homeless as well as care leavers and young people. They are committed to empowering and equipping individuals with the life skills and resources they need to transition into permanent, settled accommodation. A computer might seem like a simple thing to many of us, something we use without a second thought. But for the residents at Trinity, access to a computer can really help change lives. This donated computer will support them to take vital steps towards independence: writing CVs, completing job applications, submitting college applications, working on assignments, and even booking crucial appointments. It’s a lifeline that opens doors to new opportunities and provides the tools they need to build a brighter, more secure future. Without access to technology, tasks like these can feel impossible. If your organisation has surplus tech devices that can help us bridge the digital divide please consider joining our #techforgood campaign and donate your tech for social and environmental good (🔗 in the comments) #ComputerSkills #digitalinclusionforall #homelessnessawareness #digitalskillstraining #peterborough
